ScareCrows Re-Sign Team Captain <br>Blair Manning
Will Return for 2000-2001 Campaign <br>June 6, 2000
<br>Topeka Scarecrows Press Release <br><br>Topeka, KS - The
Topeka ScareCrows announced today that they have
re-signed center Blair Manning for the 2000-2001 season.
<br><br>"We're happy to have Blair in the fold. He's a great
leader both on and off the ice," said ScareCrows Head
Coach Paul Kelly. "There's no one in the league that
works harder than Blair." <br><br>Manning, the
ScareCrows captain last season, finished the year fourth on
the team in scoring with 17 goals and 42 assists. The
1999-2000 season was his first in the CHL after having
spent time in the ECHL, IHL, AHL and UHL. In his
career, Manning has been named Mr. Hustle twice
(Muskegon, 1997-98; Louisiana, 1998-99). During the 1996-97
season, he was named MVP for the Baton Rouge Kingfish of
the ECHL. <br><br>A Vancouver, BC native, Manning
went to training camp with the Edmonton Oilers last
season and he has also, spent time with the Cincinnati
Mighty Ducks, the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Mighty
Ducks. <br><br>Manning became the first ScareCrows
player to take a penalty shot in a game (Jan. 4, 2000
vs. Wichita's Greg Smith). During the 2000-2001
season, he should pass the 300 games played mark.
<br><br>Manning is the second veteran to sign with the ScareCrows
for next season.
