www.atlantabraves.com has a photo gallery up from Day 1 of the Braves
Fan Fest. It has two photos of Glavine in it.

I assume after today's fan fest they'll have some more photos up, but
I'm not sure.

Anyhoo, thought people might like to see those if they haven't already.

Is anyone on here in the Atlanta area and was able to attend? Hope you
had fun if you did!

Well, I posted yesterday saying Tom was going to get to skate with the
Atlanta Thrashers today but, it didn't happen. Apparently Tom wasn't
feeling well and he didn't want to risk getting any of the Thrashers
players sick. The team hopes to reschedule with him.

Hopefully Tom feels better soon and is able to skate with them.

According to the AJC.com, Tom Glavine will be suiting up and skating
with the Atlanta Thrashers at the end of their practice Monday.

This will be the (I think) second time Tom has suited up with an NHL
team. He skated a practice with the Boston Bruins back in 1992.

on the look out for AP photos on the 'net.

Dang adglav47, you beat me to it LOL! I saw this article and
thought"it would be a cool article to post in my Tom Glavine group"
oh well, great minds think alike right? It was such a great article,
almost made me cry in a couple of places and I have such a renewal of
respect for Tom after reading this article. I can't believe I'm
actually excited about baseball season again. It's a great feeling!

That is such a sweet story!! You know with all the stories going on
with celebrities in the world and with that steroid report coming out
this past Thursday, it's refreshing to know there's somebody out
there like Tom Glavine. It just makes me smile :) ~~~Angie~~~

I met him back in the winter before the 1991 season when he was a
part of the Braves caravan that traveled around to differnet places
in GA to sign autographs.  I was a young teenager back then and
couldn't get out of school until the signing was almost over.  My mom
took me to the mall and they had already cut off the line for
autographs.  I just decided to wait on the side and thought I would
only get to simply see him from a distance.  However, when they were
getting up to leave, he walked over to me.  (Guess he saw me staring!
LOL).  He graciously offered to take a picture with me.  I didn't get
an autograph that day, but have since received several that people
have had him sign for me.

Yeah, he had the flu but it wasn't announced that he had been
scratched from that night's game until we were already in our seats
with about 30 minutes to go before first pitch :(  I had been so
excited driving all the way, thinking I was going to finally see him
pitch. But he's human and well, even a World Series MVP and 2 time Cy
Young Award Winner can get sick LOL! Is it spring training yet?

I am beyond thrilled that Glavine is back with the Braves where he
belongs to finish out his brilliant career.  I've been fortunate enough
to meet him in person back in 1991 and been to several games he pitched
throughout his Braves career.  Unfortunately, I haven't been in the
past five years, but now that he's in Atlanta, I'll finally get a
chance to see him again.  I'm just waiting to find out the first game
he pitches at Turner Field so I can be there wearing my Braves Glavine
shirt with pride!

I have only been to one major league baseball game in my life, I know
it's sad.  I went to see the Braves play in Montreal on May 23rd, 1992
for a school trip which also was just the day before my 17th birthday.
I believe that Tom pitched the night before so unfortunately I didn't
get to see him then it would have been nice pre-birthday present.  The
Braves unfortunately lost that game.  One highlight was that Gary
Carter played in that game and it felt like it was a big deal when he
came up to bat since I think that was his last season, although I might
be wrong.  The closest that I was to seeing Tom before the game was he
was in the middle of the field.  At the time I was standing on the 3rd
base side at the Olympic Stadium as my friends were trying to take
pictures of whoever they could as I did not have my own camera at the
time.  It was a nice day even though the Braves lost.  I know that when
I do finally get to see Tom pitch in person that it will be another day
to remember.

I know what you mean about the "mixed feelings."

I grew up a Braves fan. I started watching them when I was 11 (I'm
28, almost 29 now) and loved the team. But my Tom Glavine fandom
always exceeded my Braves fandom. So, when he moved on to the Mets I
basically said, "Well, okay. I guess I'm watching the Mets now." Heh.
And it took a while to warm up to them - I was kind of in that period
where I kind of followed both - but the last couple of years, I
really grew to like the Mets. I had a ball following them. They kind
of became my team.

So of course, lol, now he goes back to the Braves. LOL.

I swear, Tom, if I didn't like you so much... J/K!

So now I guess I'm kind of switching back again. I think it will end
up being like you said - I'll just end up watching both teams and
wishing them both well.

I hope you get a chance to see him pitch in person! I'll keep my
fingers crossed for you that something works out!

finishing his career with the Braves and is able to spend more time
with his family.  As I live in New York and was never really a fan of
home state teams until he came to the Mets.  So, now I will continue
to watch both the Mets and the Braves as much as possible.  At least
since he did not retire I might finally be able to achieve my goal of
finally see him pitch in person.  That is somewhat embarrassing since
I have been a fan of his since I was 13 and now I'm 32.  I will
definitely be paying more attention to the Braves schedule for 2008
and once the pitching rotation is set than maybe I can plan a trip.
Hopefully, there will be more activity for this group as well as I
miss the discussions that we have had in the past.

I have been a fan for 16 years also and it is funny and great to think
that I have seen about 85% of those wins. They are some of the best
memories I have in my life because I always wanted him to succeed. I
will too and am so proud of him too.

I personally think that it is because everybody doubts him as a
pitcher because he doesn't throw hard or overpower people. It bugs me
too. I use to think it was just me but when he was with the Braves
they never really did give him much credit for being awesome year
after year either.

why is it that while Pedro was gone, TG was never acknowledged as the

Oh same here! But I swear, that had to be the longest baseball game of
my life LOL!! Especially when the Cubs got within a couple of runs
there in what I think was the 6th inning. In fact, I caught myself
rocking back and forth like Leo Mazzone used to do in Atlanta LOL! It
was a great experience and with everything else that's going on in
major league baseball, this is one record we can all rally behind and
be proud of. Tom Glavine is a good guy and a great pitcher and I am so
proud of him. I'm glad his whole family was there. Now here's to #301

June of 1988.  Although I have never seen him pitch in person and may
not be able to before he retires.  Each game that I could see or hear
has been special memories throughout the years.  The only game that I
had to listen to was the 6th game of the 1995 World Series as I was at
a retreat during college and there was not a tv.  Even though we did
have an activity planned then I had to have my radio there to listen to
the game.  Last night was a very special night and I will always
remember where I was when Tom Glavine won his 300th game.

I'm glad to see him join the 300 win club. Now I can feel better root
against the Mets (and consequently him) and for the Braves to overtake
them in the NL East.

Hi Everyone!
   I was happy to see that Tom Glavine decided to stay with the Mets,
even though I would have liked to see him go back to the Braves.  I'm
sure that it will be tough to be away from his family for another
year, but I'm sure that they probably made the decision as a family.
Hopefully I will be able to make it to a Mets game when he is pitching
so that I can finally achieve my goal of seeing him pitch in person.
It is sad to say that I haven't since I have been a fan of his since I
was 13 and now I am 31.  I would like to wish Tom and his family as
well as everyone in this group a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year!

I'm also relieved to hear this news! I haven't been concerned since
Tom had that accident with the taxi a couple of years ago.(And from
what I read about that, he had some extensive dental work done as a
