Glavine's thoughts on Game 4 of the NLDS have been added to:

http://www.southpawcentral.com/news/2004p.htm

I can't seem to locate an analysis on Game 3 so I'm thinking one
wasn't done. Or else I just missed it in my numerous checking of
MLB.com.

I really like reading his thoughts on things. I'm not sure why . . .
it's just sort of cool to kind of get a feel for what each team might
be thinking at each point of the series. Plus I just like reading
anything the man has to say so I'm pretty easy to please. LOL

Ok, those links turned out funky so, if you want to access both of
those NLDS Glavine thingies it might be easier to just go here:

http://www.southpawcentral.com/news/2004p.htm

That links contains a few paragraphs from Game 1, followed by a link
to view the entire story on MLB.com, as well as a few paragraphs from
Game 2, followed by a link to MLB.com to view that entire story.

that link will also contain the game 3, 4, etc links whenever they
are posted up....

Hey guys. I thought some of you might find this interesting if you
didn't already know about it.

MLB.com has Tom Glavine giving his commentary/analysis after each
game of the National League Divisional Series between the Braves and
Astros. I thought it was pretty cool to read his thoughts about what
each team might be feeling, etc, etc.

The direct links to each article are....(get ready for some long
addresses. LOL)

Game One:

don't worry about it. it was my fault. For a while there, I had the
settings on the board to where no post would be posted to the board
until I had approved it. But then I took that off and it was back to
anyone could post anything and it would immediately show up to the
board.

And since all that did was cause the spammers to come back here
because they have absolutely no life whatsoever (I'm annoyed, can you
tell? heh), I've gone and switched it back to me having to approve
the posts before they make their way to the board.

Argh.

I hope he reaches that goal, too! It was great to see him end the season on

the Mets. I wish the Braves still had him...and Greg Maddux...as they head

Well, Tom ended the season on a high note today, going 6 innings of 1
run ball to win his 11th game of the season. Very happy about that.
11 just seems worlds better than 10 for some reason, doesn't it?
Maybe I'm weird. lol. Anyway, it was good to see him pick up the
win. Now, he sits at 262 for his career.

Gosh I REALLY hope he can get the 38 more wins he needs for 300. Not
that his career won't be successful or fantastic if he doesn't reach
that number (no way! He's had an amazing career and certainly
deserves to get to the Hall, 300 or no 300) but I know 300 wins is a
goal of his and, I'd love to see that happen for him.

Tom finally got win number 10 last night against the Montreal Expos.
He went 6 1/3 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs (both on solo
homers). With the win, that puts him at 261 for his career (39 more
to 300) and I think it puts him at 36th place all-time for wins.
Awesome! I'm so glad he was finally able to get number 10. He's
struggled some lately so I know he had to be itching to get past that
a bit, pitch a good ball game and finally hit double digits.

Hi Amanda, we have had this problem with several other groups I am on. I
think the only answer is to put all new members on moderated status for a
period of time, say one month. Spammers like to join a group, send out their
spam, and then unsubscribe quickly. Also, I forward the spam messages to
_abuse@..._ (mailto:abuse@...) . They will also take action
against
the offending spammers, or at least that's what they say. Thank you for your
efforts!

Hey guys. Got a moderator issue I wanted to give you a heads up about.

Alrighty, as you are well aware, we have people in this world with
nothing better to do than to sign up for random yahoo groups and then
post SPAM. (I know, I don't understand it either).

Anyhoo. Lately, I've just been checking the board as often as I can
and then deleting the SPAM posts and banning the SPAMMER. (I usually
can tell when SPAM will be posted because whenever a new member signs
up, I get sent an e-mail notifying me.) The past three new members
have been SPAM.

Now, even though the SPAM gets deleted, I still get the offending
SPAM posts in my daily digests from the board. So I'm guessing you
folks do too?

So, what I've done is, I've changed the group from an unmoderated
group to a moderated one. This means that, I must approve any message
before it gets sent to the group.

Now, believe me, I'm not going to censor your messages or anything
like that. The ONLY reason why I'm doing this is to eliminate the
blatant spam that gets posted...because I know it has got to annoy
you guys.

I'm online all the time because of my job so any messages posted to
the board should get approved rather quickly. We don't get much
activity at all here so, I don't see it really being a problem
either.

Hope that is ok with you guys. If you would rather I keep it at
unmoderated and just delete any SPAM after the fact, I'll be more
than happy to go back and change it. Feel free to let me know.

Wow, I bet this really DID hit close to home for you. I will
definitely keep little Katherine in my thoughts and prayers! :) Keep
us posted on how she is doing.

Wouldn't it be cool if Tom could finish his career in Atlanta? Dunno
if it would happen but, man it'd be cool wouldn't it? Finish his
career in Atlanta and pick up his 300th win there. I know, I'm
probably living in a dream world. LOL

Alrighty, guys and gals, if you get these posts in email, you might
have gotten an email that was yet another SPAM post. Not to worry. I
have deleted that post AND banned the Spammer. I really wish they'd
quit that stuff.

I know what you mean about Atlanta not being the same without him.
It's completely true. Anytime I happen to see a Braves game on tv,
watching it... it just feels like there is something missing. It
just feels wrong. It's a weird feeling. I guess I'm just still not
used to seeing the team and NOT seeing Tom either on the mound or in
the dugout with them.

Speaking of proud, don't get me started on how proud I am of Tommy
getting involved with CureSearch (childhood cancer foundation). Have
you guys read about that? How he convinced Major League Baseball to
get involved with them? I actually got teary-eyed when I read one of
the stories about it.

He's a fabulous pitcher, mega talented and all of that but, I'm just
so glad he's also a good guy, you know?

Ok, I totally just posted this a while ago but apparently it
didn't "take." Or I'm not patient enough and it will be double
posted. Heh.

Ok. This is Stonecoldglav (Amanda) posting under another name. My
Moderator name! Yep, Way back when this board was first made, Athlete
Direct knew how big of a Tom Glavine fan I was, so they let me come
on as a moderator.

At some point thing, I think Athlete Direct sort of disappeared but
this board was never deleted so it's still around, albeit without
moderators.

I feel so bad for drifting away from the board and mod duties, but,
there was a time this board basically had zero activity on it.
Athlete direct seemed to disappear, posters here seemed to disappear
and, I got sort of wrapped up in college and in life.

When I came back later, I tried and tried to remember what my
password was to access my mod account, but I couldn't remember it.
Couldn't seem to get my question answered right for them to send me a
new password either. (I was struggling). So, I just signed up with
my "stonecoldglav" name here.

But, I checked and my mod name was still listed as active here (and
with the mod powers) so today I sat down, cleared my head and FINALLY
pulled that password from 5+ years ago out of thin air and....dum,
dum, dum....Have moderator status!

Which, gives me the power to delete that disgusting SPAM clogging up
our board.

I've deleted most of the latest SPAM I saw. I hope we are able to get
this place spruced back up again and I will definitely write down
this freakin password and keep it handy, so I can come in here and
delete anymore spam we have that wanders in.

I just think the world of Tommy and, he deserves a board with
discussion about him, not all that misc. stuff.

Lots of spam around these parts.

*blows dust off surroundings*

Well, I haven't posted here in FOREVER! Is anyone still around?

First of all, the taxi accident Glavine was in the first part of
August? Scared the complete and utter crap outta me! I tell you, when
you jump to the NY Mets official site to see if your favorite athlete
happens to be pitching that day and instead you see a headline
reading "Glavine in Traffic Accident" ... well, let's just say you
tend to stop breathing.

Whew. Thank goodness he's ok.

Second of all, after a shaky outing his first time pitching since the
accident, he rocked the house tonight in his second outing, going six
innings and giving up 1 run (on a solo homer). And he finally got a
win! It's been a while since he got one of those. Seems like he keeps
getting stuck with no decisions or losses. Glad to see him back on
the winning end of things.

Finally, I've had a Tom Glavine web site for about 6 or 7 years and,
it's always resided on a freebie geocities site. But, I FINALLY was
able to upgrade it and get it on its own domain name. Yay! The
address if anyone is interested is: www.southpawcentral.com. The site
has photos, news, stats, quotes, charity information and more.

Hope everyone enjoys it and, I hope we can get some more Glavine
chatter around here!

I don't know, Angie, but I made the same complaint last week. I have
been receiving the same spam messages on a few different Yahoo groups. The
e-mail addresses are different, but I suspect they are actually from the same
person, as they always end with the message, "I sent this message to members of
the
XYZ Club. If you don't like receiving these messages, here is how to
unsubscribe", and then they have the link to unsub.
Whoever owns/moderates these lists, should be dealing with this problem.
One way is to put all new members on "moderated" status for 30 days or more.
(Most spammers join a list, quickly pass around their spam, and then
unsubscribe before anyone has a chance to catch them.) If a spammer has to wait
30
days before they can get an unapproved message out to the group, they will go
somewhere easier. In any case, I hope somebody will PLEASE make it stop!

Hi Everyone!
It looks like Tom is having a great start this year, with beating
the Braves and the Expos. I hope that this is a sign of what we
will see this year. I have been a fan of his since I was 13 back in
1988. It was strange to seen him play as a Met last year and it
seems to be the best for him with the start that he has had this
year. Last year was a year of transition and now we will get to see
Tom have more success this year especially with a better defense
than what he had behind him last year. I hope that we will also
have more discussion in this group as the year progresses. I look
forward to it.
