Great Pitching:
Hey guys. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the great
pitching Tom Glavine's been involved with lately. He's certainly
done wonderful his past few outings, hasn't he? I think his era,
over his last 5 outings is 3.12. Nice.
Saving Ali:
Tom Glavine and Al Leiter are teaming up to raise money to help an
Iraqi child found on a routine patrol by U.S. troops. The 9-year-old
boy needs to travel to the United States for a heart operation.
Information is available at http://operationac.com/save_ali.html
On the above site you can watch a video interview of Glavine talking
about the situation and why he got involved, etc.
ESPYS:
Director Ron Howard was at Shea stadium Tuesday taping a comedy bit
for the ESPN awards show. Tom Glavine, Mike Piazza and Kaz Matsui
were involved in the skits, where Howard plays a "deranged director."
Here's the Glavine portion:
For his part, Glavine storms off the pitching mound as Howard --
trying to direct every aspect of baseball -- encourages his tantrum,
eventually goading the pitcher into slamming a water cooler with a
bat.
Howard complimented the acting abilities of Piazza and Glavine,
noting that Piazza got into a flow and started making jokes while
filming.
Well, can't say I was planning on it, but I guess I'll be watching
this year's ESPY awards now to try to catch this skit. The
nominations for the ESPYs will be announced June 24th on the Mike
and Mike ESPN radio show. (Log on to ESPN.com to cast your votes)
The awards will be given out July 13th, with the show airing on ESPN
July 17th at 9 p.m. et.
Screen Caps:
Ok, so lately I've been on a mad screen capping kick. My fiance
bought us some tv video capture software and I finally learned how
to use it. So, I've been going through my old Tom Glavine videotapes
from years ago and making screen caps (pictures) from them to post
up on my web site. If anyone is feeling nostalgic and wants to check
them out, you can see them at www.southpawcentral.com
Enjoy!
