Thanks, Max.
My cousin's son (Chris) rolled his canoe right at one of the gates - causing him
to miss it and incur a 50 second penalty. That dropped him from 4th place in
the
qualification rounds into last and cost him making the cut for the finals.
My aunt's nephew and his partner made the double sculls finals, but placed
6th.
An acquaintance (a friend of a friend) went to the Mexico City Olympics in 1968.
She held the World Record in several breaststroke events, but had to pull out of
her individual races after finding out she had mono! I also do volunteer work
with
Mal Washington. He, and a number of the celebs that attend his events, are also
former Olympians.
Hard to believe that the Americans are out of the tennis competition now....
Thanks for the word on Todd. I'm hoping to see him here in a few weeks. He
usually attends Mal's Gala each September. Nice to see Todd considered
both "notable and popular"!

I hope all your relatives did well. My uncle almost qualified for the
olympics in the 60's in swimming. He missed it by 1/10 of a sec. I've been
watching a lot of events, including of course tennis. The men's doubles and
singles finals were great.
Anyway, I noticed Todd is playing in another warmup for the US Open. He was
given a wildcard and will play Jergen Melzer on center court tonight at 7:00. I
saw him play Melzer at the NASDAQ and it should be a tough but winnable match
for Todd. Here is the tournament website.

The tournament page mentions that "Lleyton Hewitt and Todd Martin are two of
professional tennis' more notable and popular stars". Hopefully Todd will have
a good run here.
