Re: [Todd Martin] Re: Another close defeat

I hope all your relatives did well. My uncle almost qualified for the
olympics in the 60's in swimming. He missed it by 1/10 of a sec. I've been
watching a lot of events, including of course tennis. The men's doubles and
singles finals were great.

Anyway, I noticed Todd is playing in another warmup for the US Open. He was
given a wildcard and will play Jergen Melzer on center court tonight at 7:00. I
saw him play Melzer at the NASDAQ and it should be a tough but winnable match
for Todd. Here is the tournament website.
http://www.tdwaterhousecup.com/

The tournament page mentions that "Lleyton Hewitt and Todd Martin are two of
professional tennis' more notable and popular stars". Hopefully Todd will have
a good run here.

Thanks for the update. Have to admit I've been rather sidetracked lately - my
cousin's son is competing in the Olympics! His event is the C-1 Canoe
(Whitewater Slalom). Alas, he missed a gate in his 2nd run and fell from 4th to
last place today.
He is the only U.S. entry in the event. Hopefully he will do okay in the
run-off between
the guys who did not make the finals.

Also watching the rowing (double scull) as my aunt by marriage has a nephew
in that event. I knew the athletic talent in this family was someplace - it
sure
wasn't passed along to me!

I was watched the live scores of Todd Martin vs Raemon Sluiter and it was an
incredibly close match. The first set had so many ups and downs it was
incredible. Despite multiple break chances for both plaers both of them ended
up breaking only once to force a tiebreaker, which Martin won 7-5.

Thanks, Max. My cousin's son (Chris) rolled his canoe right at one of the gates - causing him to miss it and incur a 50 second penalty. That dropped him from...

That's too bad about Chris. I watched the mens finals of the singles and doubles and thought they were good matches. I wish Mardy Fish had won, but I was...
