Sadly competitive sport is not encouraged greatly in the UK and team
sports fair better.... I had a colleague who until injury prevented a
professional carreer had shown promise at tennis as a tenager and he
had the right build physically but he was also a good footballer and
he said that football offered both a more sociable lifestyle and
beter prospects....... I mean I read an article by a British male
tennis player who was ranked 300 in the world but was living irtually
hand to mouth on the satellite tour....... as the 300th best
footballer in the world he would live in luxury..... but that said we
don't get girls coming through either and tennis has to be about the
most lucrative sport for women..........
