I know!! Vin Scully was saying that it hadn't
happened since the Pads manager was in single A bal or
something like that! LOL!<br><br>I know, Dreif said he was
playing through pain all year, he thought it was just
pain that was there, not that it could be serious!
He's going to have an MRI today; I paray that it is
something that will be able to heal, and won't be carreer
ending! He's a GREAT pitcher!!<br><br>Lauren
The Dodgers haven't swept the Pads in like 24
years or something. That was pretty funny. I hope
Dreifort isn't hurt too bad...it would suck if LA lost him
for the rest of the season. What have you heard on
that??<br><br>Sarah:)
Well, coud you imagine how much your blood would
boil if a WHOLE ball park FULL of giants fans were
chanting "Beat San Diego", or "Beat them Cubs"?? GRRR!!
I'm pretty cool with the Cubs, ladt year in History I
was surrounded by Cubs fans! I don't really like Sosa
though, just as a player...I'm not to keen on the guys
are are big in the spotlight. A lot of people ask me
who my favorite players are, and some they've never
heard of! LOL!<br>I'm the 4th generation Dodger fan in
my family! My Grandma really got me hooked! All
summer long we would watch Dodger games, or listen to
them! I didn't get to go to my first game until 1998,
but it was cool, 'cause I can remember it like it was
yesterday! It was a week or two after Piazza was traded too,
so I was sad for the whole game!<br>I would love to
go to a Dodgers/Giants game at home and start an
anti-giants chant! That would be so cool!!<br>I would fear
for my life at Pac Bell too!! 'Cause I would NEVER
EVER touch anything that had giants on it...even to
protect myself; I think if I ever go I will bring my BIG
older brother!! He's 6'4", and very strong! He can wear
the giants stuff! Then we can burn it later! Or throw
it into the bay! =O)<br>Colorado will be in LA, July
26-29, and August 28-30..hmmm, I think I'll be going to
at least one game of each visit! Even when Todd was
a Dodger I only got to see him play four or five
times! Devon White was always playing! I totally didn't
cheer for Goodwin when he came from Colorado; he could
hit a game winning grand slam against the giants, and
I would have sat there like nothing happened..but
this year...he's cool! =O)<br>Last night was a good
game! It's a BIG boost for the Dodgers! Afterall, the
Pads swept them last weekend! It's time for revenge! I
also can't believe they hit 3 homers on one inning!!
Not a record though! They had 4 in on inning last
year...against the Cubbies!<br>Have a nice weekend! Take
Care!<br><br>Lauren
I have to admitt that I'm in with em' when
they're chanting "Beat LA" But you're right, we should
probably come up with a more interesting chant. I love the
Padres alot...but the only team I'm true blue about
would be my red white & Blue Chicago Cubbies. I was
born & raised there and I've been a fan since birth!
It's definately in my blood. I was 4 months old when I
went to my first game at Wrigley...of course I don't
remember it, but my mom has all of the pictures. I had
this cute little Cubs dress on. Going to Wrigley was
all I did growing up. I have to say that since I've
moved out west, that is the one thing I miss the most.
But like I said, I make it home twice a year to go
see them. I wish I could follow them again like I did
last year, but that gets expensive! I went up to Pac
Bell last year to see them play ( and of course I'm
totally clad in tons of Cubbie gear ) I feared for my
life!! literally!! I saw one Cub fan get his butt kicked
and then they threw the Cub fan out of the stadium!!!
I can't express how much I HATE the Giants!!!!
Grrrr!! I thought that it would be harder at Dodger
Stadium, with the Cubs/Dodger fights that were happening
at that time, but it turned out to be the exact
opposite. I had a blast in LA and it was bad in SF. It was
actually bad here at the Q when the Cubs came...because of
course when the Cubs are here at the Q I am in no way
shape or form a Padre fan anymore. They are pretty
hateful to Cub fans. I'm glad that for the rest of the
year I'm there to support the Pads!<br><br>Thanks for
the tip about Dodger stadium....I didn't even think
about that. I'm sure the Rockies will be up there
before I go to Chi. I'll have to make a trip up there.
<br><br>Have a good weekend....I'll try to be nice to the
Dodgers while they're here :)<br><br>( Mad about that
game last night though...bad reliever we got in
Saenz...he gave up 3 home runs in one inning!!! We should've
won that game.....oh well....there's still 3 more
)<br><br>Sarah
I'm a true blue Dodger fan! It's in my blood! I
live near Long Beach. It's worth the travel to get to
Dodger Stadium! People often want me to be an Angels fan
because it only takes about 15 minutes to get the Edison
Field from my house! =O) But, I LOVE Dodger Stadium!
It's very friendly; I've met such nice people there!
And if you go enough times, you get recognized,
especially at the merchandise stands if you buy as much
stuff as I do, everytime I go!!<br><br>I'm thinking of
going to a Padre game when the Mets come to town! I'm a
BIG Piazza fan too, so I'm hoping to see him at
Dodger Stadium, and at Qualcom.<br><br>San Fransisco
fans are the worst! I can't express how much I HATE
the "BEAT LA" chant! I say Dodger fans, and even San
Diego fans should come up with some interesting chant!
I don't even think the rivalry is as bad between
SD, and LA, and the fans aren't rude to each other!
Last September I went to a SD/LA game at Dodger
Stadium, and a guy was cheering for the Padres and a
little boy, no more that 6 was echoing his chant, but in
place of "Padres", the little boy said "Dodgers"...even
the Padre fan thought it was adorable! I would like
to go to San Fran. and see a Dodger/Giants game at
Pac Bell..but I would want a lot of security people
around! I's wear totally everything Dodger!<br><br>I
know! I've always wanted to do a birthday thing at
Dodger Stadium, but none of my friends like
baseball!<br><br>Lauren
Wishful thinking won't ever hurt!! If it comes
down to it, if you're in LA you could go to a Dodger
game, or if the Rockies are in Chicago you can go to
Wrigley Field!<br><br>I usually get Yahoo sports news
updates, and they haven't been coming ofter either!
<br>I'm hoping I can see the Rockies when they come to LA
in September...I think it's September!
=O)<br><br>Lauren
So I take it you're a Dodger fan? Do you live in
LA? I live in San Diego ( yes a Padre fan ) but I'm
from Chicago and I visit twice a year....I'm a Cub fan
first. I folllowed them all through the west last year.
It was fun. Do you ever come down for Padre games? I
love going up to Dodger Stadium, it's the closest feel
I've found to Wrigley Field than any other ball park.
I always have such a good time. I love it when
there's friendly rivalry. It's usually like that at
Padre/Dodger games here at the Q too. It's never fun with San
Francisco though. Their fans are rude and obnoxious and
just plain out of control. I hate the Giants and their
fans! Well, sorry if I seemed inquisitive...it's just
rare to find girls who actually like baseball around
here:)<br><br>Sarah
Yeah I know. The Rockies haven't been posting
anything on him lately. I actually found that at the
Sporting News Website. I'm sad that he won't be back until
the second week of July, because the Rockies will be
here ( San Diego ) the 3rd, 4th & 5th of July, and
then they won't be back until September, when I'll be
back in Chicago. Maybe he'll get miracle cured & play
here for one of the games in the first week of July???
Wishful thinking never hurts:)<br><br>Sarah

pain in his right shin Thursday and hopes to return in

directions.<br><br>``The door's still open (with Hammonds),'' O'Dowd said.
``I just think we have a completely different idea of

Rockies 5, Dodgers 4 <br>September 15, 2000
<br><br>LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Todd Hollandsworth might not even
be with the Colorado Rockies if he hadn't squandered
a golden opportunity with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
<br><br>When Devon White went on the disabled list in early
May, Hollandsworth was the logical choice to replace
him as the Dodgers' center fielder and leadoff
hitter. The job was his to lose -- and he lost it.
<br><br>Hollandsworth started 55 games in the outfield and hit .234
with eight home runs and 24 RBIs before he was dealt
at the trade deadline for outfielder Tom Goodwin.
<br><br>Hollandsworth returned to Dodger Stadium for the first time in
an enemy uniform Thursday night. He singled in his
first two at-bats as Colorado beat Los Angeles 5-4.
<br><br>``I don't know why he struggled in the past, but I
think a change of scenery helps -- just to get a fresh
start. And I think it did him a lot of good,'' Rockies
first baseman Todd Helton said. <br><br>``He fits in
well here, because there are a lot of intense guys on
this team. I know he's had some injuries, but he's got
a lot of talent.'' <br><br>Hollandsworth, 27,
became the fifth consecutive Dodger to be named NL
rookie of the year in 1996, when he hit .291 with 12
homers and 59 RBIs. But this is the first season since
that he hasn't been on the disabled list.
<br><br>``The time eventually came when they wanted to go in a
different direction, but I have no regrets,'' Hollandsworth
said. ``I'm very appreciative of having been a part of
the Dodgers organization for such a long time. I
still have a lot of friends over there that I played
ball with when I was 17 years old.'' <br><br>Dodgers
manager Davey Johnson tried so hard to get Hollandsworth
playing time that he'd even use him at first base
occasionally. <br><br>``Holly was great with me. You wouldn't
find a harder worker on a ballclub,'' Johnson said.
``Every at-bat was very intense. I mean, he'd be here
every day at 1 o'clock in the batting cage, wearing the
baseballs out. He was always changing and trying things to
get better and better. And that's probably one of the
things that kept him from living up to his potential.''
<br><br>Hollandsworth, however, is happy with his new team. In 40 games
with the Rockies, he is hitting .297 with seven homers
and 16 RBIs. <br><br>``These guys kind of took me in
and made me feel welcome right away, so that made
things real easy for me,'' Hollandsworth said. ``If I
had to pick a place to go, I couldn't have come to a
better group of guys.'' <br><br>Brian Rose (4-2) won his
third straight decision, allowing three runs and six
hits in six innings, including a solo homer by Chris
Donnels in the second. <br><br>Hollandsworth singled and

Jeff Cirillo added an RBI single off Chan Ho Park

be in trouble when the Colorado Rockies didn't trade
Pedro Astacio. <br>``You knew it was going to be a
battle out there,'' Young said of Astacio, whose name
was mentioned in trade rumors before Monday's
deadline. ``I was hoping he would be traded. I was hoping
he'd be gone.'' <br>Astacio (9-7) showed why he was so
much in demand, matching his career-high with 12
strikeouts, and Todd Hollandsworth hit a go-ahead RBI single
in his Colorado debut to lift the Rockies to a 2-1
win Tuesday. <br>``It was my time to pitch. I can't

``Nothing can happen anymore, so we don't have to worry.''

manager Buddy Bell said. ``You don't get to be National
League Rookie of the Year by being lucky.'' <br>Astacio

August 1997. Young doubled to start the first and

well and used his fastball. He has pinpoint control
and that's why he gets strikeouts,'' Cubs manager Don
Baylor said of Astacio, who also walked four over seven
innings. <br>Astacio struck out the side in both the
second and third innings. It's the third time Astacio
has struck out 12, most recently on Sept. 14, 1997,

I'm a groundball pitcher,'' Astacio said. <br>``I
think Pedro was a little bit concerned about being
traded,'' Bell said. ``I tried to explain to him that it's
a compliment. We're all replaceable, unfortunate
but true. We didn't actively go out and try to move
him. We turned down a lot of good players.'' <br>With
one out in the eighth, Neifi Perez singled off Kyle
Farnsworth (2-5) and advanced on Jeff Cirillo's groundout.
Todd Helton was intentionally walked, and Felix
Heredia hit pinch-hitter Larry Walker to load the bases.
<br>``That's not what I was looking for,'' Baylor said.
<br>Hollandsworth greeted Tim Worrell with a single to left to
score Perez. <br>``I had a great opportunity to help
get this team a big 'W,''' Hollandsworth said. ``It's
what we needed in a big way. I'm grateful to
contribute.'' <br>It was only the Cubs second loss in their
last 11 games and they now are 14-5 since the All-Star
break. <br>Gabe White pitched two perfect innings for
his second save. <br>Brian Hunter walked to lead off
the Rockies first against starter Daniel Garibay,
advanced on a sacrifice, stole third and scored on an

in the first when Young doubled to lead off, stole
third and scored one out later on Mark Grace's
groundout. <br>With the bases loaded and two outs in the
sixth, Astacio struck out Damon Buford to end the
inning. <br>Garibay, who was in the Mexican League for
seven years before this season, gave up four hits and
three walks in seven innings of his first major league
start. The left-hander, recalled from Triple-A Iowa to
fill Scott Downs' spot after he was traded to
Montreal, struck out six. <br>``He kept them off balance
and pitched a great game,'' Reed said. ``You've just
got to tip your hat to Astacio.'' <br>Garibay was 2-3

Marlins...again!!<br>Last night Todd had a pretty good night.<br>Today,
Todd didn't play until he took over for Sheffield in
LF in the bottom of the 9th inning. The Dodgers had
a wonderful game. 2 grand slams (Beltre, and
Green), a solo HR by Sheffield, Mark Grudzielanek got 4
hits...it was just another GREAT come from behind
game!<br>-Lauren

Yesterday the Dodgers played the Atlanta Braves,
and won 6-4. Devon White was out due to a shoulder
injury that he had gotten the night before. Todd was
AMAZING while taking Devo's place in the line up! The
Dodgers were down by 2 in the bottom of the first inning,
and Todd (leadoff hitter) hit a single. Later on I
believe he stole a base (?), and homered! He was really
showing everyone what he had for the
Dodgers!<br><br>-Lauren
