Mineola is having a street party with a band this Sunday. Some of us are going to meet at the trailhead around 4:00pm and ride down with a stop along the way at Margaritaville. The band starts playing at 6:00pm. Who knows we might get home when its still light out. (maybe) Greg
We have the dates for our Wabash Ride and I hope you can all join us. We have settled on Sept. 24th-26th. The ride will begin Saturday morning hopefully around 9am (last year that was a real trick) and end Sunday afternoon (as early or late as you like). The party begins Friday evening. Last year we had a great turnout and I'm looking for an even bigger turn out this year. Last year we even managed to get kicked out of a bar Friday night, thanks to those rascally Toe Rings, fondly known as the Three Amigos. So here is the skinny on the ride. It is a SELF-CONTAINED ride, unless you can find someone willing to sag your stuff from Council Bluffs (where the ride begins) to Shenandoah and back. The Wabash is NOT PAVED, rather crushed lime stone. You can ride a road bike but I would suggest an all terrain bike. Be sure you bring tubes, last year there were many flats. The ride is 50 MILES there and 50 MILES back. Unless of course you are one of the Three Amigos, in which case you will probably only make it half way before finding a bar to party in until they kick you out. As I stated in my previous email regarding this ride, IT IS A PARTY RIDE, everyone rides at their own pace and at their own risk. Spouses are welcome, children and pets are not! If you wish to have a room reserved for you in Shenandoah, please let me know by SEPT. 13TH. A reservation will be made in your name and you will pay the hotel when you check out on Sunday. Once a reservation is made I will give each of you the hotel information and should you need to cancel, you will be responsible for contacting the hotel. I know this ride conflicts with Fall Aspirations and I hope those of you who normally do Fall Aspirations will venture out for the Wabash Ride this year. All out of towners are welcome to stay with Rob and I Friday and Sunday night. If we run out of room I'm sure some of you locals have space for a body or two. Please share this with your friends, all are welcome.
Crazy could you let Matt and the other Bar Flys know about this ride!
Dave Karlson could you post this for Team Angry and Pink Floyd and whoever else!
Carolyn could you please forward this to Juls, Kathy, Holywood, Roxy and the rest of the Sniffers, and cc. me!
I'm sure I left something out, so send me any questions you have and let me know as soon as you can if you are planning on attending.
Take care all and I look forward to seeing you on the road!
