Attached is a brochure describing this year’s Wabash
Trace Century and Meteor Ride. It is August 8 & 9 and coincides with
the Perseid Meteor shower. If you remember John Denver’s lyric “I’ve
seen the fire in the sky.”, he was referring to the Perseid Meteor shower.
Hope to see you there.

I got this note from John. If you found this please contact him. Greg
hi Greg. last night while biking from down the hill to mineola i
realized i left my camelbak on a table at margaritaville. unfortunately
it was not there when i came back. it was a black water bag with MSN
logo embroidered on. contents included a sefras tool & patch kit,
29er tube, co2, keys on a jeep fob, and my friend-aaron hughs's drivers
license & his keys. if anyone accidentally pick this up or found it
somewhere please contact me-no questions asked-and with much
appreciation. thx everybody. good luck to the ones going on ragbrai...
I got a call today from the Sheriff's office. They our working with the Mills County Sheriff office and have received permission to take their bike patrol across county lines all the way down to Mineola. They asked me to pass this along, because of the farmer who has started a new party stop that's just up the hill from Mineola. Be careful out there, bring lights. It looks like the rain will be done by this afternoon, The band is playing rain or shine. If you don't bike down tonight drive down and meet us.
Thursday there is no parking at the school lot next to the trail head. the sheriff will still be around the trail this week. Just a reminder no open beer on the trail. The soon they don't have to tell people the sooner they will stop coming. Rich has helped line up a band for this Thursday night down at the steakhose here is a note he sent out. greg
I wanted to let everyone know that if anyone is interested
in doing the Taco Ride this Thursday, June 16th, it should be a great
time. I encouraged the owner of the Mineola Steak House to hire a band
for a Big Ragbrai Kickoff Event. The band playing is Jason and the
Punknecks! They are a band that have been traveling around the USA for the last 4+ years nonstop and have
decided to come play this Thursday in Mineola
starting at either 7:00pm or 8:00pm. To hear what they sound like just
type in “Jason and the Punknecks” to check out their music and it
will send you to their myspace.com music site. I'm sure the bigger
the crowd the better for their show!
If you can make it out for the Taco Ride...that would be awesome! Looking
forward to seeing everyone soon!
Sincerely,
Rich Carstensen

Most of you have heard by now that the sheriff will be patrolling the trail this Thursday night. Iowa law does not allow drinking in places that are used for public use. I called the Mineola Steakhouse and talked with Clint. He is going to open a second way to get into the Steakhouse and have extra staff and locations to purchase drinks to help with the lines. This week in Shenandoah at the depot there is a reggae band from New York playing. This is a long ways from the Omaha area but some of the cyclist that ride up from that way might want to bike to this. See you Thursday.
