We will be happy to see you there Tom. We have quite an extravaganza
of throwing for the world championships'
  Friday 3rd of october 2008
Gold Cup the most intense throw in the history of knife throwing

The Joe " Brokenfeather" Darrah Long Distance throw.

Impalement target specific

Fast draw knife must be on your belt and in a sheath to the handle

Speed throw from one spin for on minute the entertainment idustry has
speed throwing from 7 feet so we do not want to compete with that
community we are competition throwers so well throw one spin from the
handle with no live target.

Saturday the 4th of october2008

The Alamo Throw

Sunday the 5th of october2008

The Che Che Whitecloud World championship Knife tournamen with 8
winners plus the World Champion

The Tommi hawke World championship Tomahawk throw with 8 winners Plus
the World champion.
All the above events will be IKTHOF world championship events and
submitted to Guinness World records for each event.
The cost of the the throw is 275.00 which will allow you to throw in
all events throughout the weekend including attending the semi
formal banquet. Dressy Western Clothing is what most usually wear
but suits and ties are recommended. If you just plan to throw in one
event the cost is still $275.00 so try them all. Alamo

Sunday evening

The IKTHOF semi formal Banquet where all the prizes are given out and
the 2008 inductees will be honored.

Go to www.ikthof.com for all the details of each event. we are still
working on some of them but keep going back for updates throughout
the nerxt week or two.

I can recommend getting on Dave's list he has some cool throwers and such in
the works!
I'd like to thank Dave for his hospitality while I was in FL. he is the
consummate host, great food a lot of fun and we got some knife throwing in too.
I saw a few of Dave's secret weapons that he has planned, one is a
modified Bowie Axe Type knife that Prospin (Curt Lovejoy) sells on Ebay and
Amazon,
Dave has cut away quite a bit of metal and it looks like Dick Haines Cold
Weather Throwers but with handles.
It was great being in the sunshine instead of the snow and I suggest if
you are a thrower or would be thrower you should get down to Dave's place on
Merritt Island FL. and have some fun!
I would like to reiterate that without Throwzini's site I would never have
met any of the fine folks who have always welcomed me into their homes, I
could make a list but there wouldn't be enough time to read it, suffice to say
there are a great bunch of folks on here and if you are anywhere near a
fellow thrower or Brother or Sister of the knife you would be doing yourself a
great disservice not to meet up with them and learn a bit more about throwing
or
teach them a bit more about throwing.
If you are a newcomer and feel you don't want to be embarrassed by your
lack of skill I can guarantee you'll come away a better thrower, there are a
bunch of tournaments coming up please try to attend one so you can begin to
understand what the fellowship we share is about!
Bill Page has a tournament coming up in 2 weeks at Master Sims school in
Fayetteville GA. I'm going to do my best to get down there but just don't know
yet
Also a quick thanks to Richard Wesson one of the best newcomers around and
probably one of the fastest learners I've ever had the pleasure to throw
with, he sent me some great pic's from The Alamo Throw in San Antonio, I really
appreciate it Richard, keep up the great work and throw em like you stole
em!!!
   Stick with it!
                   Joe D.

The thumb on the edge slows the spin of the hawk or knife which means
you will be farther away from the target.

I wouldn't start out using your thumb unless it feels natural. JoeD is
a great thrower and he uses the thumb, but it will increase your
distance away from the target if you use it.

I can throw a long 1 spin by using my thumb and choking up on the
handle at the same distance I throw a regular grip 2 spin without the
thumb.

Good Luck!

For me and when i'm showing someone how to throw I tell them to hold
the handle just tight enough so it doesn't fall out of your hand if
it hangs down. That way when your throwing the force of the movement
will let the hawk slip out of your hand. And then there is the old
saying practice practice practice.

If you are throwing knives to be more proficient you have to be at the
correct distance for the number of spins or half spins depending which, you need
a
knife that is reasonably well balanced for the particular type of throwing
your doing.
A blade heavy knives is primarily for handle throwing and other full
rotational spins and a handle heavy knife will throw a bit better by the blade
for
all of your various half spin throws.
You probably want to use a knife that is at the least 12" long but
preferably 13" or 14" long for the best results, and it should be at least 12 to
16
ounces in weight.
Check out the many sites that have info on knife throwing, most notably
the Throwzini site _www.throwzini.com_ (http://www.throwzini.com) and click 101
Free Knife Throwing Tips, also check the International Knife Throwers Hall
Of Fame site at _www.ikthof.com_ (http://www.ikthof.com) there are several
other sites and more info but almost anyone here will answer any question you
have and Throwzini himself is our Moderator, his real name is Scott Gracia and
without him most of us wouldn't be here and have the type of knife throwing
network that we are so fortunate to have!
Like I said anymore questions just fire away and they'll get answered!

What's the new one look like?

The older ones weren't that great, too light and bend easy plus that
black coating chips off and you'll rip a piece of flesh off your hands.

The other one they had with the green cord wrapped handle had a
tendency to snap.

Well No Throw how many more do you want?
Since you are doing the work on my blanks they are about as inexpensive as
they get, if you want them cheaper I suggest you buy a bandsaw and check the
Commercial lawn care companies for used blades and have at it!

I hear you Scott
I do try to keep it throwing related as that is my passion but
occasionally we all go off on these tangents!
I haven't gotten much throwing in here of late simply because of the weather
up home but 1/2 Spin and I did get a bit of throwing in with what I believe
is a new world record of 72 steak knives thrown into a 15" log round?
I doubt anyone has ever done anything quite this silly but it just goes to
prove you can throw almost anything!
They were pretty sturdy steak knives like those used at Outback Steak House
and I did manage to break two of them but they held up pretty well!
We also threw a few hawks and some other knives and shot a lot of bull!

                                             Stick With It!
                                                              Joe D.

background and we never hear from them but they read all the messages posted
and did not sign up here to learn that Dave's pee is green or you might have
radioactive snow near you. These posts are funny and I let 95% of them go

Hi thrombeldinbar88There are several really great knife makers on this list. Joe
Darrah is probably one of the best knife makers around. If you get one of his
knives you know it's top notch. His knives are so good that I tricked him into
teaching me to build knives a couple years ago myself. Just because of the same
