We now have 32 throwers confirmed to the Alamo throw on the 6th of
October. Unfortunatly some throwers are strongly objecting to this
throw being anyhting but a Mountain man throw. My thoughts were to
expand our horizons to the re-enactors and the SASS people who number
in the thousands across the US. I set the rules as they exist
throwing a 14 inch hawk and a Bowie or period knife to honor the men
who died fighting with these weapons at close quarters, and having a
12 minute throw to facilitate public interest becouse as we all know
you can only watch one guy throwing for only so long.We do need to
show our skill however so i set 4 distances two with the knife and
two with the hawk. Several throwers have in the past objected to the
rules and some just flat refuse to throw anyhting but the very short
hawks that they have been throwing for several years in the Mountain
man throws. Okay Okay Okay I give up i can tell them to stick it
where the sun don't shine and undo all the work i have attempted to
do in the past five years or just give up and Mind my own business
which is conventional throwing. It was my objective to get all the
throwers throwing both mountain men and conventional and add a new
type of throw to attract other people who like to throw knives to
strengthen our numbers so the guys running the throws don't lose
there rear ends.
We will throw the 14 inch hawk this year at the Alamo and a Bowie
knife or period knife. Next year whoever makes a presentation to the
Alamo and provides the insurance ( they require 2 Million for all
spectators, contestants, staff members)and does the logistics of
getting how ever many throwers they see fit to have can run it and
throw whatever the hell they please. This year the throw is at 9 a.m.
in San Antonio on the 6th of October. Whover shows up at nine will be
included in the throw up to 32 throwers. If less than 32 show up I
will make up the difference so that the Alamo gets the 3200 dollars i
told them they would get see you there. We have now four people being
inducted into the Hall of Fame on Sunday night the seventh of October
if the accept their nominations and actually show .
Next year in 2008 there will be a Gold Cup, An IKTHOF World
Championship Knife Throw and A IKTHOF World Championship Tomahawk
throw here in Austin using the existing rules of the IKTHOF. As
pointed rather strongly in the past year I am a conventional thrower
and will point my future efforts to running the AUSTIN throw in
October of each year. I still hope to make all the conventional
throws in 2008. We came a long way in the short time we have been in
existance but without effort by executive members growth in having
throws to attract media and new members from different organizations
and changes to benefit that growth we cannot move forward. That being
said I hope to see everyone in Austin for the IKTHOF World
Championships each year. Mike Bainton

There is a Mexican restaurant on the hwy 51 just past Polk street in
Pineville. It is on the left hand side, unfortunately you have to pass
it and turn around to get into it. I think it would be a great place
for us to meet for dinner/ appetizers or whatever. As far as I know my
family members will all be here as well as Rudd and Bruce. I will leave
an invitation and directions to the restaurant at both hotels as well.
If anyone needs help please give me a call 704-906-5343. If you know of
anyone staying anywhere else let them know. I know that some are not on
this list and I will try to get with them. I will be running around all
over but would like to meet at the restaurant at 6:00 Give me a call
when you get in or just see you there. They have an outdoor seating
area so I am hoping the weather is good.

I have been asked to do a demo for a Frontier Days weekend here in Ohio
next month, and they asked if I had or knew anyone with any knives that
I could set up to sell at this demo. I'll be talking and throwing all
weekend . SO I am putting out the word. If you have any frontier
knives you would like to sell, let me know and we can work out my
getting them and selling them for you here. I will be useing my
tournement knives as well so that style would work also. I just thought
that it would be a good venu to get the name out of some of the great
knife makers in our group. Remember that the Austin throw is comeing
up and its a chance to sell some knives and make a little extra for the
trip.

Just let me know. You can email me kirkmel@... or give me a call
and leave a message. 937-902-2842 (cell)

To all WWAC, IKTHOF Members
The closing of the WWAC as a club was to all of us in the IKTHOF
a regrettable occurrence. I would like to thank Mark Allan, Jo
Benson and the staff that gave us the wonderful years that went
before. I was asked by Mark Allen in early August to take over as the
Director of the WWAC and operate in conjunction with the IKTHOF. I
accepted this daunting assignment with the idea of putting together a
board of Directors, each to operate their own Wild West Performers
skill. It was with much regret that I had to write a letter declining
that honor because of the following. My skill level in the Western
Arts is only the Knife and Tomahawk portion. I unfortunately know
nothing about the other skills such as whip, Gun spinning, and roping
skills of all kinds, fast draw and the trick riding. I do run a full
time business as well as being the Executive Director of the IKTHOF.
We have grown leaps and bounds in the past four years since
conception and enjoy the privilege of having the only international
and nationally recognized knife and tomahawk throws. The Guinness
book of world records and the WWAC as well as ESPN and other media
outlets recognize our organization as the standard in Knife and
Tomahawk throwing throughout the world. I felt that I could not
jeopardize our growth and commitment to our skills by branching out
into something I personally know nothing about.
The WWAC accepted the IKTHOF with open arms at each of their venues
and we are most grateful for their kind and generous offer to make us
part of their organization. My reason for writing this letter was to
try to do the same for all WWAC members. We have six sanctioned
throws in the United States and are now working on two International
throws one in the UK and one in Europe. With the WWAC closing its
club I am assuming the Claremore Convention will close with it. Which
leaves us with five throws Nationally. I invite the WWAC members to
attend these throws and compete in their various skills under the
Auspices of the IKTHOF. All five throws are completely covered with
liability insurance which would automatically cover any Western Arts
Performers skills conducted there. We have in the past and will in
the future induct Wild West performers in our Hall of Fame. The
Rhinestone Ropers were inducted in 2006 as the Wild West performer's
family of the year and our own Mark Allen was inducted as Wild West
Performer's promoter of the year. Many other members of the former
WWAC were also inducted.
On the 5th, 6th and 7th of October 2007 we will be having four major
throwing events here in Austin. On the 5th of October we will be
having our famous Bob "The Master of The Blade "Carp World Gold Cup.
On October 6th 2007 we are going to travel to the Alamo in San
Antonio, Texas to have the first Frontier Knife and Hawk
Championships on the grounds of the Alamo. This is an invitational
throw for thirty two throwers. All proceeds from this throw will be
given to the Alamo for preservation of this historic shrine. On
Sunday the 7th of October we will be having the Central US Knife
Throwing Championships as well as the Central US Hawk Throwing
Championships. At six p.m. the 7th of October an induction dinner
will take place to honor achievements for all Western Arts Performers
and be inducted into the Hall of Fame. We will also be having an
IKTHOF Board meeting on Saturday evening the 6th of October, all WWAC
members wishing to direct a Wild West Performers skill at Austin in
2007 or in any future events for the 2008 season are certainly
welcome to attend this meeting. We have 15000 square feet of air
conditioned space for our throwing events and have much more room for
many more events in the Western Arts.
If any of the people in the different venues such as roping, gun
spinning, fast draw, whips or any other event and would like to put
on these events this October of 2007 or as stated before for the 2008
season please contact me at 512-280-0611. Thank you all for the
privilege of being a part of the WWAC, it is because of Mark Allan,
Jo Benson and the rest of the WWAC members that we have enjoyed the
immense success we have had. I encourage you to visit us at our web
site www.bakido.com or www.ikthof.com .

Hello Everybody,

Its been quite a while since I've posted but have been very excited about
the 'Alamo Throw' (unbelievable accomplishment guys! Keep up the great
work!) and Tim's upcoming throw in NC, and of course The Chucker!

Also quite a bummer about the WWAC. (A crummy reminder on how quick things
can change). I had a fantastic time at last years WWAC event in Oklahoma! So
many people attended and there were things going on constantly. I can't
imagine how much work it took to make an event like that run smoothly? So
thanks Mark and everyone else for all the time and work!

YAHOO PHOTOS
But anyway, I got a message from Yahoo saying that the Yahoo Photos area is
closing. They sent a list of other places we can host at so I figured I
would ask the folks who use it the most if they had any thoughts? Once we
decide, with the click of a few buttons (supposedly), all will be
transferred and running! :-)

Do not Reply to this message. No need for 700 emails to get sent out each
time someone replies. Just send your comments to me sgracia@... .

Thanks!

Here is the message I received from Yahoo:

Dear Yahoo! Photos user,

For some time now, we've supported two great photo sharing services: Yahoo!
Photos and Flickr. But even good things come to an end, and we've decided to
close Yahoo! Photos to focus all our efforts on Flickr - the award-winning
photo sharing community that TIME Magazine has called "completely
addictive."

We will officially close Yahoo! Photos on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 9
p.m. PDT. Until then, we are offering you the opportunity to move to another
photo sharing service (Flickr, KODAK Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish, or
Photobucket). We're making the transfer real simple, and with a couple
clicks we'll automatically move your photos to Flickr or wherever you want
them. You can also download your original-resolution photos back to your
computer, or buy an archive CD from our featured partner (for users of the
New Yahoo! Photos only). All you need to do is tell us what to do with your
photos before we close, after which any photos remaining on Yahoo! Photos
will be deleted and no longer accessible.

Of course, we hope you'll join us at Flickr, but we also realize that Flickr
may not be for everyone. In the end, we want you to find the service that's
right for you, and we hope you take some time to learn more about your
options before making this important decision.

Please give us your decision by Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 9 p.m. PDT.
After that time, any photos remaining in Yahoo! Photos will be deleted.

Thanks for being a part of the Web's largest photo sharing service - we hope
to see you over at Flickr!

If you have already moved or downloaded your photos, please disregard this
message.

I'm incredibly happy to hear that Ohio has been confirmed to be

didn't feel too good about things when I thought that was at an abrupt

I've been talking to Gery, and the Annie Oakley Wild West Expo and
the IKTHOF Knife tourney will take place next year. The WWAC will be
missed but we feel that this event will be just fine. So, for you
knife throwers and wild west fans, you can put on your calanders that
the last weekend in July of 2008 there will be an event. Normally
the Annie Oakley Days festival is the last weekend in July so unless
something changes then thats when the event will be.

Hi there,

I organised a little knife throwers meeting over here in Germany, you
can find the report and some photos here:
http://www.knifethrowing.info/thrower-meeting_pullmancity_2007.html

Please remember, our big European meeting is coming up on the weekend
of the 8th/9th September. It will be held near Nürnberg, Germany. We
already have confirmed participants from Germany, France, Finland,
Poland and the Czech Republic. And most likely a national TV team
showing up. Details:

I don't know for sure what is going to happen with the WWAC members
but I believe the IKTHOF is going to try to continue having our World
Championships in Claremore on those dates, it is obviously something
we will be discussing at our annual board meeting in Oct.!

I would strongly suggest that the people who are interested in
running the various events try to come and talk with Mike Bainton and
the IKTHOF board to see if we can salvage any part of this thing we
all love!

While I'm not involved as much in the other areas as I am with the
knife and hawk throwing I have been cracking whips for many, many
years and have learned more and made some great friends in the WWAC
it seems a real shame to let this thing just go down the tubes so put
your thinking caps on folks and let's formulate a plan to at least
keep the World Championships alive in Claremore!!!

I know Gery Deer will keep the Annie Oakley Day's alive in
Greenville OH. along with the many people who bring that all together
with IKTHOF board member Kirk Bass running the Knife Throwing.

Ed (Speshul Ed) Imperatore is anxious to keep the NJ. event alive
as I'm sure all the other folks who host the various events are as
well, at present we have I believe 8 IKTHOF (International Knife
Throwers Hall Of Fame) I don't know for sure what is going to
happen with the WWAC members but I believe the IKTHOF is going to try
to continue having our World Championships in Claremore on those
dates, it is obviously something we will be discussing at our annual

as I'm sure all the other folks who host the various events are as
well, at present we have I believe 8 IKTHOF (International Knife
Throwers Hall Of Fame) www.ikthof.com events held in various parts of
the country, I don't see any reason that with some logistical help
from fellow WWAC/IKTHOF members we can't somehow combine these events?

We are going to have a really special honor this year of actually
having a Frontiersman Knife Throw inside the grounds of The ALAMO,
this will be the first time a group has been allowed to do this
inside the grounds of that historic site, I think it would be great
if we had some of our WWAC Brothers and Sisters there doing a little
impromptu roping and getting the word out about what we do along with
the Brothers and Sisters of the knife!

There will also be several other tournaments held at South Austin
Karate which is also the home of the IKTHOF owned and run by Dr.
Michael J. (Alamo) Bainton, for those of you who have never had the
pleasure of being there I can tell you it is much more than the
IKTHOF or South Austin Karate, Dr. Bainton runs an award winning
after school program for children and has some of the highest GPA's
from his student's in the country!

There have been several members of the WWAC inducted into the
IKTHOF including Che Che White Cloud THE best knife thrower in the
world, Dan, Kimberly and Cody of The Rhinestone Ropers, Dick Haines
world class knife thrower, stilt walker, unicyclist, fire eater,
roper and knife thrower and Mark Allen as western art's promoter, we
recognize people for various things but it seems only reasonable that
we overlap a bit as many of us have taken up other endeavors in the
western arts just as many of the ropers and whip crackers have taken
up knife and hawk throwing!

Anyway that's my 7 cent's worth, I strongly recommend anyone
interested in getting involved in some capacity to try to make it to
this historic event in Texas Oct. 5,6 and 7 just check out
www.IKTHOF.com!

According to the WWAC website (http://www.wwac.com), our club is no
longer in existence! I just can't believe it, but I called Mark
Allen, and he said it is true.....

He said 4 or 5 people stepped up saying they wanted the directors job,
but said they would be unable to do it when they realized how much
work it was. He also said no one offered to form a board of directors
to kind of "spread the work around", so he decided to put it to an end.

He said if someone does step up now, they are going to have to
essentially form their own club, because it's too late......

Mark told me that as long as the people who run the regionals are
willing to keep going, there will still be regional events, but they
won't be under the WWAC name anymore.

I know not all of you were WWAC members, but this means no more big
Oklahoma get-together!

I'm still kind of in shock by this....I'm not too sure what to say
right now, but I wanted to give you all the latest information.

I did have this labeled "Throw Update" but that just sounded wrong.
Anyway Tanner and I picked up the 20 target rounds yesterday. Looks to
be some pretty nice yellow pine with minimal knots (I hope). Well we
will be building the backdrops this weekend, prizes are being prepared,
etc etc. I am still trying to figure out who will be here Friday
night, and at what time, to see if we can gather at a local restaurant
or not. There is a great Mexican place just up the road from the park
and the Quality suites that has an outside eating area that would be
great. If you know what time you are hitting Charlotte let me know.
Otherwise we will gather at the park at 8:00ish on Saturday morning.

I will be releasing any remaining rooms at the Quality Suites today. I
would hope that if you tell them you are with our group that you may be
able to still get the same rate if they have rooms available but they
will not be holding any after today. The Motel 6 will keep theirs the
same though. If anyone has any questions about the throw let me know.

And don't ask me which one of them has the better/worse problem.
Melodee got the better of the problmes though. I'm not nearly as
screwed up as tim is.

All my problems came from him.
