The whole truth and nothing but the truth from Carl -------
As I type this with my quivering fingers from my bed, my wife is offering me
some hot broth to help the healing.
Yes, the "young gentlemen whooped the old folks soundly!" I really don't
understand it either, one time Chuck scored a "55" out a possible "12." I guess
Daniel caught our error when he checked the addition.
But Chuck and I and not complainers and I'm such a good loser that I won't
mention Micah knocked my cane out from under me as I was throwing. Nor will I
mention the verbal abuse these children perpetrated on their elders. It was
horrible!
I afraid my friend Roy was right, without Chuck's help it would have been a real
route. Many times Chuck held my walker steady while I threw.
OK, here's the "other" real truth.
It was a great day for throwing. Micah and Daniel against Chuck and myself. We
each threw 20 knives from 8', 12', 15', and 18' plus hawks from 14'. We used
"Chucker rules" - stand behind the line, throw whatever you want, don't worry
about spins, change knives if you want. Micah and Daniel were hot! I think
Micah is going to be the guy to beat in Las Vegas this year. He keeps a very
cool head when he throws. And as we all know, it's the thrower NOT the knife.
They beat us fair and square. Daniel and Micah are the Doubles Champs until
someone dethrones them. After all the congratulations were over I brought out
my table knives. Daniel won a pocket knife from me for throwing the table
knives so well. Daniel really is a master at throwing junk! Then they started
to play all sorts of knife, hawk and spear throwing games. I think everyone had
a great time. Knife throwing is a great way to build friendships. I'm
certainly glad I took up the sport!
Chuck brought his lovely wife, Jane and she and my wife Marilyn, talked all
afternoon. After the boys left the four of us had a nice dinner and discussed
why women love men so much, or maybe it was why women tolerate men. Either
way, it was a stimulating conversation. Chuck and Jane have been married 55
years. Something must be working for those two!
I hope all is well with everyone.
Life is good!
