His batting average is 264 as of Sunday night, 7-05.
If you did not have Ryan Zimmerman or Christian Guzman, he would be the
Nationals representative most likely.
He reminds me of Frank Howard, lots of HR's, ave. fielding, average batting
average.
but he might get in as I think I heard that someone selected might not go.

By the way, I was at today's great game with Olsen going almost a complete game.
We got tickets in March to most of all Sunday games this year, as we normally
do, so I support the team by going.
Tim, I understand what you are staying, but I am looking at the complete picture
of the situation with Dunn, the season, other players in the league.

I like Dunn, but Frank Howard definitely hit for a significantly higher
average. Hondo was in .290s twice with the Nats and once with L.A. His
.274 in '68 -- the year of the pitcher -- ranked in the Top Ten (his
stats for that year in retrospect were astounding). I don't think Dunn
will ever hit over .275, but with all the walks, I'm not complaining.

I looked up Howard's batting records and he is way better than Dunn, as having
Dunn on a team is not bad at all, but Howard deserved to be on the All Star
rosters he was on.
Howard did have several years of 290 plus batting. I had no idea.
Maybe Dunn might still get into the line up.

Mike,
Yeah, I am not saying Dunn is a bad player, just not as good as Hondo
was. Plus, another thing people don't realize -- many of Howard's
years were played when there were far less teams and the pitching was
less diluted than it is today. Nowadays, a lot of these hitters are
facing pitchers that would not have even been in the league back in
the '60s when Hondo played.

You made a great point as Ryan Howard is batting 254.
I now agree the Dunn deserves to be in the game over Ryan Howard.

Dunn has more HR and a higher OPS than Ryan Howard. He belongs on the
All-Star team at least as much as Howard does.

I hope that we can persuade them to give him Beltran's spot. Beltran is
injured and won't be able to play.
I'd even sacrifice Guzman winning the online vote if it meant Dunn was
getting that spot.
