The Washington Times is reporting today (and I also heard it on WTEM) that Art
Silber, owner of the Potomac Cannons, said he tried to affiliate with the Expos
two years ago and MLB wouldn't allow it because it might crete the impression
that the Expos were moving to Washington. However, a couple of weeks ago, Art
says, he got a call from "an unidentified source" (not from Kinko's in Abilene,
I can assure you) saying to go ahead and join the Expos' system.

A sign? Who knows? The Expos just say that they want to leave the Florida
State League (where they have been affiliated with the Brevard County Manatees)
for the Carolina League, but...

And now Phil Wood is saying on WJFK-AM that the announcement may come Thursday.
Wouldn't that be sweet irony?
