Dan Daniels and John MaClean were on the radio till 1968, on WTOP radio.
Short purchased the team, fired them and got a deal with WWDC-AM, 1260 on the
dial.
Shelby Whitfield and Ron Menchine did the radio, until Shelby got fired by Short
for being too critical of him, hence the book he wrote later, "Kiss it Goodbye".
He was replaced by Tony Roberts, who still in the business. We catch him
sometime doing college football on radio. I know he worked for Mutual at one
time.
Warner Wolf did TV on Channel 9, in the end.
I know there was someone by the name of Bob Wolf, no relation to Warner, on the
radio, in the 50's.
I am sure people older than me, 48, will fill you in before Daniels and MaClean.
I hope I am spelling John's name right.

Subject: [The Washington Senators] Senators' Radio Announcers
I am trying to determine the announcers for the Washington Senators'
radio broadcasts from 1961-1973. I think that I have the correct
names. The names that I have are Dan Daniels, John MacLean, Shelby
Whitfield, and Ron Menchine. I also believe that Ray Scott did TV
broadcasts.
Does anyone have information about the years in which they worked?
Also, I know that Dan Daniels was the primary voice of the Senators
during his years as an announcer. Who were the primary announcers
during the other years?
