Re: [The Washington Senators] Hal Woodeshick, former Washington Senator, died June 14, 2009

Thanks, Art for this update. While I have several signed photos from him, I
really don't rememebr him as a player for the Senators other than his stats.

Hal Woodeshick, who pitched for both the original and expansion Senators in
1959, 1960 and 1961, died Sunday, June 14th, 2009 in Houston, Texas.

Born August 24, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Woodeshick began his major league
career by appearing in 2 games with the Detroit Tigers in 1956.

His career spanned 1956 through 1967. During that sapn he played for the Detroit
Tigers (on 2 separate stints), Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, Houston
Colt .45's and was with the team as they were transformed into the Astros in
1965, finishing his career with the World's Champion St. Louis Cardinals in
1967.

He represented the Houston Colt .45's in the 1963 All-Star game.

Coming to the original Senators in late May of 1959 along with Hal Naragon in a
trade for Ed Fitz Gerald, Woodeshick would serve as a spot starter and reliever.
He'd compile a 2-4 record in 1959 with a 3.69 ERA. In 1960, he went 4-5 with a
4.70 ERA.

Selected by the "new" Senators in the expansion draft, he'd go 3-2 with a 4.02
ERA before being traded to the Detroit Tigers in June of 1961 for Chuck Cottier.

Career record:
