Folks,
Last night (Monday, Jan. 5th, 2009) I was watching the "Antiques
Road Show" on WETA and was pleasantly surprised to see the Washington
Senators highlighted with one of the items presented.
The daughter of Senators outfielder Earl McNeely, who is credited
with driving in the winning run in the 7th game of the 1924 World
Series, the Senators only World Championship, had a photo of the 1924
Championship team, each player having autographed the photo and the
medallion presented to her father. (Long before World Series rings.)
The estimated value of the combined items was $10,000-15,000. I
realize that this is probably "ancient history" to many as the photo is
85 years old, but it was great to see the Senators mentioned in a
unusual venue.
