The Washington Senators - A place to talk about The Washington SenatorsDoes
anyone know if there is going to be any kind of closing ceremony for RFK? In
this case, I'd like to steal a page from Baltimore and modify it. Remember when
tehy tookl home plate from Memorial Stadium, flew it by helicopter to Camden
Yards, and planted it there? We could do something similar, but this being
Washington, we'd use a stretch limo and have it "escorted" by a player
representing the original Senators (Killebrew or Vernon?), one repesenting the
expansion Senators (Hondo?), and one representing the current Nationals
(presumably Ryan Zimmerman.) What do you think?

Tim

If I'm not mistaken, with the passing of Jim Lemon last year, Mickey Vernon is the lone surviving former Nats manager (I or II). It would be wonderful to honor...

Arch, Do you have an address where I might write to Mr. Vernon. He played his final years in my youth, and of course I saw more of him as our manager. Thanks ...

Tim's idea is so exquisitely appropriate, I get goose bumps thinking about having Mickey Vernon, Frank Howard and Ryan Zimmerman all together, helping us all...
