I trust that we can still count a majority of the expansion teams as
being with us (Tom Cheney and Don Rudolph being two notable exceptions
who died far too young), I hope everyone is aware that one of the truly
outstanding Griffith Senators/Nats just passed away in his 90s:
shortstop Cecil Travis. He was on his way to a Hall of Fame career when
he was drafted in WWII. Age and frostbite in his toes made him a lesser
player when he returned and cut short his playing days. Happy Christmas
and New Year to all my fellow Senators/Nationals fans.
