I remember, from my childhood in the '50's, that we called them the
Nationals, the Senators, and the Nats for short...all mixed up.

I do the same now.

By the way, the papers say that the last (only?) time the Nats broke 1
million fans was 1946.

Given the size of Griffith Stadium -- small -- that must have been
something. A lot of people in the bleachers...and a Griffith Stadium day
game showed why those seats were called "bleachers".

The Associated Press couldn't get it right that the '33 team was in fact the Nationals, not the Senators (officially at least). Not to quibble on such a happy...

Andrew, I was so excited about the Nats, as you are right, FDR ended prohibition in 1933. Maybe that got the 1933 Nationals to win the AL title! Maybe it...
