Last time a team in Washington for baseball was in first, this late in the
season, was June 5, 1933, at the start of prohibition!!! LOL



Not only that....but the Senators won the AL pennant in 1933! BTW,
officially, they were known as the NATIONALS...

They drew 41,000 today....probably more than most other teams

Gee, I guess MLB didn't figure on that either...

Here's to the Nats and the wonderful season they have given us so far and to
our hopes for the future!

The Associated Press couldn't get it right that the '33 team was in fact the Nationals, not the Senators (officially at least). Not to quibble on such a happy...

Hello, all, I remember, from my childhood in the '50's, that we called them the Nationals, the Senators, and the Nats for short...all mixed up. I do the same...

Andrew, I was so excited about the Nats, as you are right, FDR ended prohibition in 1933. Maybe that got the 1933 Nationals to win the AL title! Maybe it...
