Ato is in Los Angeles, patiently waiting for his right leg to catch
up to the rest of his body. This year he has started three 100m
dashes. He's finished one, and even that one, a 10.15 win in
Modesto, just barely. His right quadricep has been a nagging
injury for him, and, doctors say, directly related to the head-on
crash he survived last year, which injured his right hip. Those who
have seen him this year, though, know what's to come once this last
piece of the puzzle falls into place...Ato's starts have been
nothing short of scintillating, including a beauty at the
Prefontaine before he stopped to avoid further injury. Ato has
raised his 1-rep max in the bench to 320lb this year, a team best
this year, and almost 20lb heavier than he had ever lifted in his
life before. In short, Ato's work and results in the weight room
are a good indication that things will be just fine once he is 100%
fit and ready to run. We figure another 3 weeks before he competes
again.
