Re: [The New York Yankees Fan Club] GRRRRRRRRRRR PITCHING

We HAVE pitchers, some mighty fine ones if Torre will quit abusing them and wiping out the bullpen. We have lost 6 or 7 games now because of Torre. His putting Minchoky in caused repeated rallies to be killed. I think Minchoky is about to take the title of biggest Yankee rally killer away from Barfield. That takes some doing as Barfield could kill a rally just by entering the stadium.

Worse his overuse of the bullpen left htem exhausted. We have an awesome bullpen. If they were not pitching every day we'd won at least 5 or 6 of those that the bullpen blew. That's not counting Mo's blown saves. I'm just talking about the games Henn, Proctor, Bruney, etc got lit up in.  Torre wanted to keep Farnsworth. That alone cost us a couple games because Torre is going to use Farnsworth whether it makes sense or not. Torre has brought in Meyers lifting an effective reliever just because the next hitter was left handed. Betcha money Torre didn't look up whether the hitter was vulnerable or even a better hitter against lefties. The result we lost another lead or two for no reason. Torre's quick hook antics have added wear and tear to the bullpen for no reason at all. Pettite who's our sole effective pitcher right now is being used in relief!!!!

We have young prospects who can do the job if Torre would use them right. He steals their confidence with the quick hooks. He sends them to the minors for a bad outing or two. He is burning them up and destroying their faith in themselves. He is teaching the whole minor league ptiching system that you have to pitch like an all star to get a 2nd start under Torre.

Lets go with the Yankees with somebody not as prone to panic attacks as Torre. We leave Rasner in a couple more innings in his good starts. We leave Pettitte in another inning in one of his starts. Leave Iggy in for another inning or two on another start and so on. Hmm bullpen isn't worn out. We keep Rasner up in case somebody gets bombed and instead of using 5 relievers in a game Rasner comes in and pitches 5 or 6 innings in long relief.  THat means fresh arms in the bullpen. That adds up to a winning record if Torre wasn't at the helm. Given the injuries to Karstens, Wang, Zilla, and Mussina we've done pretty good except Torre has sabataged the whole effort. Stolen defeat from the jaws of victory time and time again this season.

It's Torre not the pitching that's the problem. Our pitching is fine. We just need to get these guys out there and get them more experience. Release Pavano, he's worthless as trade bait any more. Never really had much value at all but we missed that tiny sliver of a window to get rid of him. We also missed a chance to move Farnsworth. So we are stuck with him also.  We dump Minchoky that will help. Mostly it's not wear out the bullpen. Not over use Pettite. Give the young starters room and confidence to develop. Watch by the all star break we'll be on an unstoppable roll. We panic now go get washed up 2nd hand pitching we risk not even winning the division.

That doesn't explain the Captain hook approach with the vets, with Iggy and Rasner isn't that young any more. Nor does Torre apparenlty consider him a prospect...
