Teach For America Week is an annual, nationwide event in which
leaders from all professions spend an hour of their time teaching
children from some of our nation's lowest income communities where
Teach For America corps members teach. Beyond the immediate impact
students feel in individual classrooms, Teach For America Week
highlights, for people across the country, the challenges these
students face and the promise they offer.
Since its launch in 1997 hundreds of America's most successful
leaders have participated in Teach For America Week, sharing their
knowledge, personal insight, and wisdom with thousands of children.
Last year Capitals alumnus and Comcast SportsNet hockey analyst Craig
Laughlin participated in Teach For America Week, teaching a fifth-
grade class at at Patricia R. Harris Education Center in Southeast
Washington, D.C.
