Hi Tony: Thanks for this. As you know from also
reading other boards, we Mystics fans are kept further
away from the players than fans of many other teams.
So I totally agree with you on that. I have used
autographed items to raise money for deserving
non-profits, so I especially resent how hard it is to
get them. I have been rudely run off by security
people many times.
I believe the promotions from the Mystics are
unbelievably bad - the last one, the Alana water
bottle(?)thing really was the worst. How about some
cool posters and bring back the actual bobbleheads.
As one of many, many lesbian fans, I would like to see
more outreach to our community. Some teams have
special family days and special pride days - why can't
we? We are an important, loyal and large segment of
the fan base and it feels bad to be ignored or pushed
into the closet by the organization.
I hope Sheila will be able to change this. Doesn't
have to be a big thing, just some recognition.
I like Linda Hargrove's scouting reports and it would
be fun to hear from members of the coaching staff or
other front office folks too. Maybe there could be
something like that before more games. I couldn't make
the Six Flags event this year, but I like that idea
and maybe it would work better for more people if it
was closer into town.
I use Metro, so the parking isn't my issue. I ignore
whatever goes on at halftime and find most of it
pretty offensive or, at best, boring and infantile.
I love the Mayhem, but felt they weren't as practiced
and their routines weren't as imaginative this year as
in the past.
I have renewed, but some of my friends have not and,
of course, it is less fun as the MCI Center gets
progressively more and more empty. I hope you can pass
these thoughts along.
Go Mystics!
