Oops, hit the send button:
Alysha reminds me of Asjha Jones in looks and stature. She'll be a
good combo post playing the 3 and 4. Helped LSU beat TN for the SEC
champioship. Good pick sincs Chantele Anderson (my top choice) was
way gone. Out - Maren Walseth
Zuzana Zirkova - never heard of her. PG?
Trish Juhline - Another PG I think OUT - Audrey Saurey
Tamara Bowie - at 6'0" a small forward. Given the de[th the Mystics
have at the 3 and 4, a long shot to make the team.
The Mystics' priority was a BIG post player to help us match up with
the other teams. We're betting the Jenny Mowe will give us that.
her past stats don't support that. But then again, neither did
Coco's. Great coaching can make a difference. With the 14 team
league and dispersal draft, EVERY OTHER team has greatly improved.
Let's cross or figures that Mowe isn't just a taller Mills.
Right now I see Mowe starting at the 5 with AJ backing her up. Mique
is no question to start at the 4, with AJ and Smith as backups.
Stacy will again start at the 3, but when we need to go big I see
Page and Smith in.
Coco at the 2 with Luz and Stacey as backup. A mystery is Tonya
Washington. Tonya had a GREAT off season int the NWBL. If she comes
back confident and consistent then Mystics fans are in for surprise.
The PG position will be interesting. Annie Burgess has the upper
hand. She proved last year to be a better PG than first thought, but
her point production was spotty. Look for Keisha Brown to challenge
for this position There are also a couple of Free Agent PGs
(Brondello comes to mid) who did not get picked up in the dispersal
draft. If we can get a solid point producer AND play maker, we'll be
in good shape at this position.
The demise of Miami and Orlando, while bad for those cities, has been
good for the league. With the dispersal of some great players, it
means that some good talent has been spread around and some marginal
players will not have a home. Expect all around play in the league
to be "Kicked UP" a notch.
WATCH OUT FOR DETROIT!!!
