I understand your point. But honestly we have many players in the
league that don't make it to a second season.
$1200 raise is more than most of us will get. As a gov employee, our
cash awards have been put on hold and instead of them we get time off
awards, we have to struggle with budget to provide PATIENT CARE. We
barely got our cost of living increase, which was retroactive since
there is no money in the Federal Government.
As an athlete, I find it very hard to believe that every player in
the league feels cheated. Getting paid all of this money to do
something they love. I play softball, bowl, and bball. All for free.
I actually pay out of my pocket (gas, food, lodging).
Ah, and let's not forget that the season is ONLY 4 maybe 5 months
long. How many people you know make $ 48,000 - $ 40,0000 in this
period of time, and I am talking a REAL JOB.
If the season is cancelled these players will not get anything. And
then they have to go get the real you talked about starting off at $
40,0000 or so A YEAR...
Like you, I have also been a season ticket holder from the very first
tip off and LOVE my games. I plan my whole summer including my
softball season around the Mystics. I would be p*ed off if it is
cancelled.
