Jonathon Woodgate has been snubbed by Sven Goran Eriksson, who has left the
Leeds defender out of his England squad for the friendly with Italy.
Woodgate has been in fine form for The Whites since returning to first-team
action, but has not done enough to force his way into Eriksson's plans for
the Elland Road clash on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old has now completed the 100 hours' community service handed to
him after he was found guilty of affray following an incident in Leeds city
centre in January 2000.
But there is now a massive question mark hanging over Woodgate's chances of
making the trip to Japan and South Korea, as the Swede has plumped for the
injured Rio Ferdinand - who missed Leeds' game against Leicester with a knee
injury - and Spurs youngster Ledley King.
Middlesbrough's rock-solid defensive duo Gareth Southgate and Ugo Ehiogu
have also been called into a 27-man squad.
"Love is like oxygen. Love is a many splendid thing, Love lifts us up where
we belong, All you need is love!"
