Obviously the group has died quite a bit,
but if I can get the link on other pages I may be able to get it back
up. I've been busy with school lately and it's been difficult keeping
up with the group, but I'm better managing my time now. Also with
winter coming I'll have more free time.
Hope to see more people flow in!
Welcome to the group mrsringtail75!
Here's the URL:
http://theindianahorse.yuku.com
I'm still working out a few bugs here and there (mostly looks)but it's
usable. I hope you all follow, and I decided to keep this site up and
post a link leading to our new page in case anyone new comes and wants
to join.

Anyone else want to move? I'll delete this afterwards if we do, I
agree this site is hard to follow, a "forum type" group would be lots
easier, if you guys are up to it I'm with it too-the title will be

I clicked on your link but it didn't work right. Can't see the flyer.

Happy trails guys!
Claudia
Hi Darla!
Ah, 4H..... I'm hoping my daughter takes to gaming events because
this showy stuff is going to kill me, I think!!!! I don't know if
I'm going to make a very good 4H show mom!!! And I hate not knowing
what I'm doing - it makes me very uneasy. Right now there's so much
to absorb that it's kind of freaking me out. My husband says I need
to relax and enjoy it, but it's hard right now because my daughter
is looking at me like I'm the one who knows what's going on! My
horse experience this far has all been informal, home-type fun
stuff. Boy am I getting an education!

Unfortunately, this was the weekend we chose to install hardwood
flooring in our living room and it took ALL weekend. Had I only
known! I only had enough time to clean and feed, pat and give
cookies. I'm mad because I wasted that beautiful weekend inside and
now this coming weekend, when my kids will be staying with my mother-
in-law, the weather is going to be crummy. Guess I'll use the time to
spring clean the barn and groom. Lord knows they need it - they're
shedding like mad!

I've been helping my sister "babysit" all weekend for my mom and dad,
they went to Tennessee to get away :| I got to sneak out to say hi to
O.T. while the siblings we're playing once or twice but that was about
it. I got to jump on the trampoline and go walking through the creek
and woods though, we had fun. My parents are coming back just in time
for the good weather to leave, :{...
Sorry you hurt your back, ouch. Hope everyone else enjoyed the weather
too :D

People who don't take care of their own horses will be the first ones
to tell you how to care for yours.
You should never buy a cheap girth!
A handsome horse that's badly behaved will become a lot less
attractive in about 15 min.
People who think they have nothing more to learn about riding hit the
ground the hardest.
Children and ponies are natural allies and often have identical
dispositions.
The richest horse people often look the poorest.
The closeness of a horse is one of the sweetest smells in the world.
A solitary ride through the bush is more beneficial than six months
with the best psychiatrist.
The worse a person rides, the more likely they are going to blame it
on the horse.
The best thing about going to the barn first thing in the morning is
that horses don't care how you look.
If a dealer insists a horse is worth twice what he's asking he's
usually worth half that much.
The best way to appreciate how another person rides is to get on
their horse.
I can recognize another horse person no matter what town, city,
state, county or country I visit.
You can never have too many hoof picks.
It is not wise to argue with something that outweighs you by 1,000
pounds
I'd rather have a horse with a perfect mind then a perfect head.
Eight hours is too long to be in the saddle!
If you think you have left the water on in the barn you have; if you
think you have closed the pasture gate you haven't.
When someone asks you if you like their horse always say yes
The happiest people I know own horses, dogs, cats and at least one
deranged goat.
If you're looking for the perfect horse you will never own one.
Owning a horse can either make a marriage or break it.
I'd rather lose my lipstick then my curb chain.
You shouldn't talk about your first place ribbon to someone that came
in second.
If someone says that horse has a little buck, it has a BIG buck.
If we need rain, schedule a horse show or trail ride.
I've never warmed up to someone that didn't want a walk down to the
stables to see the horses.
A clean stable and a sparkling horse are among life's great pleasures.
Even given-away horses can be too expensive. Especially give-away
horses.
No matter how badly behaved you are, your horse always gives you a
second chance.
A more expensive horse doesn't make a better one.
I can't stand to have an empty stable.
Losing a horse can break your heart, but it will have been worth it.

Oh, Ireland for me too! If you ever get a chance to catch the Equitrekking
show on PBS, it's awesome, and shows a lot of places to go ride around
the world.
In the US, I'd have to say Wyoming or one of the flatter states, Kansas
maybe, I'd like to see the storms way off in the distance. Or maybe on the
coast somewhere warm, ride in the ocean :)

Yes, it was an absolutely glorious day! Spent a lot of the weekend
thwarting the escape attempts of "the fugitive five", five ducks who
absolutely refuse to stay in the pasture/on the pond and would rather
be on my porch/in the road instead. We must have done something
right, there was only one loose this afternoon :)
I also spent a lot of time brushing, especially on the new guys.
Shedding like mad! And Drifter and I took a half-dozen or more
bareback trips around the pasture and down the street to the field full of
daffodils, and we worked on lunging a little. Also tried my hand at
bareback/bridleless in the corral for a few loops, just at a walk. Got so
many great pics on my phone that it didn't even have enough free
memory for me to make a call, lol!
Another nice day today! Just got home and popped online before I go
round up the boys. Two wild geese landed on the pond just as I got
home; first time that's happened! And found out I'm tentatively
scheduled to go to the Year One Experience at Road Atlanta racetrack to
work the autocross in May, that'll be awesome. And if you have car-
guys in your home, keep an eye out for the June issue of Hot Rod
Magazine, I'm in there twice this issue! WOOT! :)
Hope everyone had as relaxing a weekend as I did. Nothing like a
bareback jaunt, barefoot, on your favorite horse in the sunshine. :)
If you could go riding anywhere in the world, where would you go? Of
course, this is taking into assumption that you have ALL the money in
the world and could afford it! :-)
In the USA, I'd love to go out west to Colorado or somewhere around
there. I want to ride in the foothills of the mountains!
Outside of USA, I want to go to Ireland. I want to see the green green
grass and the fences made of stone. I want to see the castles and
everything that makes Ireland special. And to do it on horseback would
make it all that sweeter!!!
So what about you? Were would you like to go?
So since the weather was soooo wonderful, did you get a chance to enjoy
some horse time? What did you do?
Unfortunately, I didn't do much other than hand graze and do lots of
brushing. At track practice on Saturday, I sent my back into muscle
spasms. So I didn't dare climb up on a horse. So they just got lots
of lovings.
What about you?

Thank you :)
Flossie is just about 2 I'm guessing, she's really small for a belgian
(theres supposedly a pony mixed in her lines somewhere).
O says thanks for the complements, O.T. stands for overtime, the lady
that originally owned her had to work overtime when she was born and
didn't get to see her being born.

Aw don't feel stupid :( it was no problem, I know mondays can be
awful, I don't look forward to training a couple yearlings and a
coming 3yr old, though I'd rather do that than a fast food job or
something.
off topic- :D
I can't wait until this board grows some more, I'm gonna put up some
flyers at a tack shop nearby, hopefully someone will see it! I put in
something about putting their advertisements on our links section, so
I think that might get some horse peoples attention, maybe. lol hopefully

Hello I'm Alison (creator of The Indiana Horse), I'm 16 and I live on a small 40 acre farm with my mom,dad 2 sisters and brother, and my mom home-schools us. Now to the fun part, we have 11 horses total here- my mare O.T. is a 7yr old gray paint (she's my main mare), and I have a miniature horse named Jett as well but he doesn't get as much attention as O.T. I love him but he kinda hangs with his miniature friends-he has his own life, and then theres Flossie- shes a trip, I got her for free from someone I know, she kinda became my next project, and until the weather is nice she will roam the fields like a wild mustang even though she's a belgian.
I'll post pictures in my album, I love taking pictures of the horses
I posted the first message but failed to tell you anything about me.
=)
I'm married with two wonderful daughters. They're teenagers so at
times I want to shoot them but for the most part, they're good
girls. The youngest is horse-addicted like myself and the oldest
will have nothing to do with them.
We have three horses right now. Hannah is 28 yr old QH mare that is
the offical pasture ornament. She taught my daughter to ride and
took care of her through her first 4-H year and first parade. Now
she just gets spoiled. Vance is a 6 yr old QH/Arab gelding. Started
out as my horse but has turned in to my daughters horse now. Its
obvious who has his heart. They have a close bond that I just love
to see! Then there's Apache, 7 yr old paint gelding, who we just got
this spring. We're still in the bonding stage and again, the weather
sure hasn't helped anything!
Besides horses, we have a pot belly pig that was abandoned on the
side of the road. My daughter chased him down in a 100 acre field
while my hubby laughed himself silly! Said it was like watch Rocky
chase the chicken. LOL He is now my hubby's pride and joy. We also
have two outside dogs that were homeless and adopted us. Then there
are the two dogs inside, a cat and finally the ferret.
We like to trail ride with me and my daughter on horses and my hubby
on his mountain bike. It's a nice compromise. For years, he wanted
me to ride a bike with him. I told him I'd rather be riding the
horse! So now we're both happy. =) My daughter plays around with 4-
H where besides the horse she also shows swine, goats and sheep.
Enough about me, I can't wait to see this board grow and meet new
friends!!!
Welcome Denise!
I know about the "getting involved with 4-H". My daughter has played
around with it a couple years but not serious. Her "4-h" horse is
now officially retired and we have a horse to replace her. And like
you, we've got a long way to go! Now if only the weather would co-
operate so we can get started!!! 4-H is coming up quickly!!!!
