Great win by the A's tonight! Emile Brown has been an exciting
addition to the A's and another solid performance by the A's starting
pitching. On the Green Stampede front, the tutoring program has
enjoyed some of its largest classes of students in Stampede history!
Tonight a smaller group came for tutoring, but it was just as vocal
(even though it was very cold this evening). Our next tutoring
session is tomorrow May 6 from 4:30-6:30 and then the game to follow.

DRAKES EVENT MAY 15

The event at Drakes is finally coming to fruition. All proceeds will
benefit Oakland Schools. Tax deductable contributions can be made
via The Green Stampede. The event will be held from 4-7 PM at Drakes
Brewery in San Leandro and will include beverages and BBQ. Check out
their website for directions: www.drinkdrakes.com

TAILGATE PARTY JUNE 12

Our first official tailgate party will be Thursday June 12 versus the
New York Yankees. This is also the last day for the Oakland Public
Schools so plenty of relieved teachers will also be on hand. More
info to come.

BOARD MEETING MAY 8

The next board meeting will be this Thursday, May 8 at 7:30 PM at our
offices 645 Canyon Oaks Drive, #A in Oakland.

UPCOMING EVENTS...

Tue May 6 versus Baltimore
Mon May 19 vs. Tampa Bay
Tue May 20 vs. Tampa Bay
Tue May 27 vs. Toronto
Wed May 28 vs. Toronto

June 11 1-7 Lockwood Elementary School (69th and East

Market - Check out music, healthy foods, and fresh vegetables at this
exciting event. Co-sponsored by Network for a Healthy California
and "Champions for Change"

October 2008 - Haunted House with the members of Theta Delta Chi
Fraternity at UC Berkeley. We skipped the haunted house last year,
but this year should be twice as scary as it was in 2006. More info
to come.

Hello Everyone,

Great to see the A's doing well in the Cactus League and hope the A's
will continue their winning ways in Japan. The event that was slated
for Drakes has been changed to April 10 from 4-7 PM at Drakes in San
Leandro. All proceeds will benefit the Green Stampede and the
students of the Oakland Unified School District.

The first tailgate that had been slated for April 2 has had to be
postponed since Major League Baseball has changed the game from a
night game to a day game. More info on both events will be
forthcoming.

Go A's!

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the 2008 season! While the off-season moves of the A's
may have pointed to a rebuilding year for our A's, the Green Stampede
looks to be stronger than ever. The Green Stampede tutoring program
will begin its 8th season this year and we look to make it one of our
most successful yet.

To kick off the new year, there are two events scheduled:

THURSDAY March 27, 2008: Kick-off "tailgate party" at Drakes Brewery
in San Leandro 5 PM

Thursday April 3, 2008: Annual Board Meeting at 645 Canyon Oaks

Special Thanks to Dean "Chef Boyardean" Fajardin who is stepping down
as Vice President of the Green Stampede. Everyone involved with The
Green Stampede knows Dean as the "master griller" at the tailgate
parties as well as his tireless work over the years with the tutoring
program, haunted houses, parties, and clean-up days. Dean will still
be involved with The Green Stampede, however he is stepping down as
Vice President in order to take care of some personal affairs. Dean
has been the backbone of our organization and a tireless supporter of
the students of Oakland and members of The Green Stampede. We can
never fully repay Dean for all of his great work and kindness and he
can not be replaced. We only wish Dean well and thank him for his
continued support. The Board has appointed Maria Leon as the new Vice
President with elections to come at our January General Board Meeting.
Thanks again and Go A's!

Hello Everyone,

The last tutoring session was yesterday, and even though the A's were
swept by Seattle, the Green Stampede/Oakland A's Homework Club went out
on a high note. A's pitcher (and Stockton native) Dallas Braden
visited the Green Stampede students and discussed the importance of
education along with athletics. "I always made sure to have my
homework done" Braden said,"or else I would not be able to go to
baseball practice the next day." Dallas is currently finishing a
degree in psychology and is enjoying his major league experience. We
appreciate the A's community relations department with Detra Paige and
Warren Chu and appreciate Dallas Braden for visiting the students.

The next homework session will be in April 2008!

The last event of the Green Stampede this year is the Haunted House

  will be forthcoming.

Tonight on the post-game show, they replayed highlights from the A's 20
game streak culminating in Hatteburg's walk-off homerun. The A's will
not be doing anything remotely like that, but it is nice to reminisce.

The tutoring program has three more dates for the 2007 season:
Thursday, September 13, Monday September 17, and Tuesday September 18.

There will be a board meeting on Friday September 14 at 8 PM at 645

Thank you to the Greenstampede members that showed up to the last School Board
Meeting in support of Christopher.? It meant a lot to the Dobbins Family.
Christopher has dedicated so much of his time to try a make Oakland a better
community. There are certain members of the school board that are trying to ruin
his political career.? There is a short school board meeting on Wednesday,
August 22, 2007 to vote on giving Christopher a Censure - which is a permanent,
public mark on his record. There is a group of people in support of Christopher
that will be showing up to the meeting. If anyone is interested, the meeting is:
?
August 22, 2007, 6:00pm
The Oakland Unified School District Headquarters
1025 2nd Ave., Oakland, CA
The Board Room, 1st floor, room at the far right

Any support is greatly appreciated.? This is the only item on the meeting's
agenda, so it will be a short, 30 minute meeting.? Thank you.
