Subject: [The Green Stampede] The Green Stampede Tailgate Party on April
2

Hello Everyone,

With Baseball season beginning tomorrow, the first tailgate party
will be on Wednesday April 2. We will have the usual great food
and beverages, but this year we are expanding and expect
greater turnouts.

Our tailgate coordinators - Cathy and Dean have put a lot of work
and this should be our most successful tailgate party. Special
thanks to Pringle Meats, Broasted Chicken, Liquid Sound DJs,
and Delta Chi Fraternity for their generous donations.

If you would like to bring something, the theme is desserts so
we are having a contest for the best desserts (it is not necessary
to bring something though)

You will also be able to get a Green Stampede 2003 shirt and to
sign up for the tutoring program. Check out the website for more
details or to check out pictures from the St. Patrick's Day party.

Thanks again and Go A's!!!

YO!!!! SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE EMAIL BUT I WAS A DELTA
CHI IN COLLEGE!!!! You MUST tell my boys I say hello
and that they should represent us BIG TIME or I'll fly
out there and haze some pledge's ass! I was always a
big fan of the "pledge toss" event, but no one else
was. I never understood why either!? Oh well! PS. I
might fly out for the game so buy me an extra ticket!

Always,
MD

Hello,

Thanks again for all of the help for The Green Stampede/St. Patrick's
Day benefit. It was a rousing success and we cleared a fair amount for
The Green Stampede programs.

The thank-yous are too numerous to mention, but special thanks to: 1)
Carlos and Mario Reynoso for donating all of the food and for Mario who
produced and printed the color, glossy brochures.
2) Troy Corona donated a substantial amount of the adult beverages. 3)
Liquid Sound DJ's and "The People" had the place rocking all night. 4)
St. Paschal's Church and Father Michael for allowing us to host the
benefit.
5) The set-up and clean-up crew: Cathy, Cesar, Jerry, Vicente, J-Lee,
Vanessa, Martha, Mario, Carlos, Troy, Ray, Marc, Dean, Cyndi, Brian,
Corinne, Jerveece, Erika, Maurice, and Ken.
6) Joell Jones for representing Raiderfanradio.
7) Everyone else who came and supported The Green Stampede

The A's will open the season in Tokyo on March 24. The first home
game will be on April 1 and the first tailgate party will be April 2.

Go A's!

Just to remind everyone, the St. Patrick's Day Party will be on
Saturday March 15 at St. Paschal's Church in Oakland. We have pre-
sold most of the 300 tickets so it will definitely be a good time had
by all.

Thanks to Carlos and Mario Reynoso for hooking up all of the food and
everyone else who bought/sold tickets. All proceeds will go to the
tutoring program.

Watch for the updates on the web site:

Just a quick follow up after last night’s Green Stampede Board
Meeting of a possibly community relations project:

On Friday, April 11th from 9:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at U.C. Berkeley
there is an event titled “I’m Going to College”, where 300 5th & 6th =

graders from Oakland Unified & West Contra Costa Unified School
District will get the opportunity to become college students for a
day.

We need volunteers (preferably current college students, either
undergrad or grad) to either pair up with another student to teach
one or two 25 minute classes of up to 30 5th & 6th graders or anyone
who’s interested and available to accompany a group for the day,
during guided tours of the campus and to their classes.

We also need a few great speakers to talk to the 5th & 6th graders
about college. It would only be about a 2.5 minute motivational
speech. Personal stories work great. We need ALL the help we can get,
so even if you aren’t available on April 11th, but know someone else
who is and can represent the Green Stampede as well then please
contact either Monica Montenegro, East Bay Consortium Executive
Director or Mandy Ruiz, EBC Program Coordinator at 510-879-8367 and
ask about volunteering for “I’m Going to College”.

It’s really a great event. Please let us know if you or anyone you
know is interested in inspiring 300 5th & 6th graders to go to
college.

To remind everyone, the last board meeting before the season starts
will be on Friday March 7 @ 7 PM at St. Paschal's Church (3700
Dorisa Ave) in Oakland. We will be finalizing all of the plans for
the season and the first tailgate party. In addition, there will be
committee reports and other pertinent information. Refreshments and
beverages will be served.

GREEN STAMPEDE/ST. PATRICK'S DAY DANCE

Thanks to all who have already bought tickets for the St. Patrick's
Day party on Saturday March 15 @ 8 PM (until 1 AM), we have already
sold over 100 tickets and we should have many more in attendence.
The price of admission includes the Reggae Band and DJ, food (thanks
to Monte Vista Catering), and beverages. There will be all types of
music played and a great mix of people. Only $10 single, $15 a
couple in advance; $20 at the door(The $20 price will be charged at
the door unless prior arrangements are made).

TUTORING PROGRAM

The tutoring program committee met last week and the program and
curriculum are already established. Keith Brown and Jennifer Lee
will give a full discussion this Friday. In addition, if you are
interested in volunteering or participating, we will have a brief
committee meeting after the board meeting. Special thanks to A's
Community Relations director Detra Paige for already getting us the
tickets.

RALLY COMMITTEE

In order to increase The Green Stampede presence in Section 145, we
have created and are in the process of finishing two new signs
(thank you cyndi and vicky). We will also have a Youth report by
Cesar and the new "Top 10 t-shirts" and the "Green Stampede Country"
shirts and beanies will be available.

GREEN STAMPEDE SEASON TICKETS

Also at the meeting this Friday will be a representative from the
A's to give all Green Stampeders a deal on season tickets. I got
mine yesterday and they look great. Prices are reasonable and don't
get left out!

A'S FAN RADIO

A'S Fan Radio is getting ever closer to reality. Thanks to
Raiderfan Radio and Committee Chairs Frances Brooks and Jerveece
White for all of the work. We will have a full report on Friday.

Finally, the A's are in first place in the Cactus League and look to
get off to a great start. The season is almost here and it looks
like the first game will be Barry Zito vs. Garcia or Jaime Moyer.
Thanks to everyone who has helped out in the offseason and joined
THe Green Stampede (thanks to all for also listening and reading my
rambling emails...:)

Have a great week, GO A's! and see everyone Friday.

Hello Chris, Greens Stampede and any one else who gets
this e-mail. I would like to invite you all to one
very fun party and great benefit. As some of you may
know, one of our fellow Raider fans Griz Jones had
recently (super bowl day) been hit by an SUV and
suffered a shattered pelvis as well as other injuries
as he exited the game. The driver never stopped. As
you can imagine his ongoing medical bills will
probably be overwhelming and given the fact that he
has no medical we (Raider fan brothers and sisters)
have decided to throw a benefit party to raise
whatever money we can to help out in any way as family
takes care of family. If you had the chance to meet
Griz you would do the same as he is one special
person....Anyhow, the party will be at the Longbranch
Saloon in San Leandro (1681 Washington Ave
510-352-6853). The BBQ starts at 3pm with live
entertainment starting at 4. 4 to 8pm will included
Raider cover band Raiderhead, a local rap group called
Local Villians (featuring Young T & Doobie), Comedian
Big Al and maybe more as this grass roots effort
continues to grow. 8pm till closing (2am) is when the
party really heats up with Black Hole DJ Noor
providing music to dance to. benefit charge is $7 with
all proceeds going to Griz's fund. So hopefully we
will see you there and Please feel free to pass this
e-mail around to your personal lists. The more who
shows, the more we can raise. If anyone out there has
ideas to add or can provide additional entertainment
please let me know...Thank you all in advance....

The A's have looked solid in the opening of the Spring Training 2003
season and it looks like the A's are on their way to another
successful year. The talks with Tejada appear to be optimistic
(much more than they were with Giambi) and the idea of new ownership,
with intent to stay in Oakland, is promising.

The Green Stampede will have a general meeting this Friday March 7 at
St. Paschal's Church in Oakland - 3700 Dorisa. This will be the last
general meeting before the season starts. Meeting will begin at
around 7:15 and will last no longer than 1 hour. Refreshments and
beverages will be provided. You will be able to purchase the new
2003 Green Stampede shirts ($10 each or 3 for $25) with ALL proceeds
to benefit The Green Stampede Programs.

In addition, the A's are offering special ticket plans to all Green
Stampede memebers. Don't miss out on this opportunity.

The third point of business will be the St. Patrick's Day Dance on
Saturday March 15. We have pre-sold over 100 tickets so this will be
a great event and again all proceeds will benefit the tailgate
parties and the tutoring program.

Special thanks this week go to Cathy Bullard who printed all of the
tickets and put the information together about the party and Edwin
Wong who fixed a couple of issues with the website. Thanks again and
look forward to seeing everyone this Friday.

Go A's!!!

We are desiging our Green Stampede shirts for the 2003 season and one
of the designs will be a "top 10" list. Here is the starting list,
but if you have any other "reasons" and we use them, or if you submit
a wide list of suggestions(thanks Jennifer Lee), then we will send
you a free t-shirt. (that's all they give you on Letterman)

Top 10 Reasons to Root for the Oakland A's in 2003...

10. "Macha" rhymes with "Chewbacca"
9. Texas still doesn't have any pitching.
8. Barry "Cy Young" Zito sings as well as he pitches.
7. We get to boo Jason Giambi 6 times this year.
6. We don't need a "retractable roof" over our stadium to keep out
all of the rain.
5. $2 tickets - $1 dogs every Wednesday.
4. The "3-4" defense (chavez and Tejada) has 2 gold gloves, an MVP,
over 30 homers and 100 RBIs in each of the last two seasons.
3. Stomper the Elephant easily squashes the Rally Monkey.
2. Bill King Bobblehead Dolls.
1. Oakland - Four Championships....Frisco - STILL Zero

Please send comments and suggestions in order to improve this list.

TUTORING PROGRAM

The tutoring program committee will meet next tuesday February 25 at
8:00 PM at Ricky's Sports Bar in San Leandro. The purpose will be to
set up the permission slips, recruiting process, and curriculum for
the Spring 2003 semester. See Keith Brown or Chris Dobbins @ 510-562-
2506 for more information.

NEXT GENERAL BOARD MEETING - MARCH 7

The next meeting will be on Friday March 7 from 7 PM to 8 PM at St.
Paschal's Church. Last meeting we had around 50 Stampeders so let's
have another great turnout. Please be on time. In addition, Mr.
Aaron Dragomir from the Oakland A's will be selling A's ticket
packages with The Green Stampede Ticket Discount in effect.
Refreshments will be served.

THE GREEN STAMPEDE/ST. PATRICK'S DAY DANCE - MARCH 15

Make your plans now to attend the St. Patrick's Day Benefit Dance on
Saturday March 15. This will be our only fundraiser and ALL PROCEEDS
will benefit The Green Stampede. Tickets will go on sale this
weekend. $10 single; $15 per couple $16 per person at the door.
Drinks, Refreshments, and Music are included.

SPECIAL THANKS

Special thanks this week go out to Jerveece White, Frances Brooks,
(for putting the steps to get the Radio Show in Place) and Mrs.
Wilson-Bailey (Cyndi's Mom) for donating the fabric for the new
banners. Also thanks to RaiderRob, StonerDude, BlackHole Steff, Tim
Del Rosario, and Rob Rivera for including The Green Stampede in their
weekly radio show "RaiderFanRadio.com" Tuesday Nights from 9-11 PM
PST.

IN MEMORIUM...

The Green Stampede lost one of its own - Mark Morin last summer. We
will be honoring him with a special tribute on the web site and will
name our future scholarship program after him.

In addition, The Green Stampede would also like to extend its
condolences to the Ricardo Family with the loss of Mr. Ricardo Sr.
Ricky's is an establishment that supports The Green Stampede and
Oakland sports and we would want to thank them for this.

Thanks to all for your continued support,

Go A's!!!

Hello,

A's Fanfest is this Saturday, February 8 at the Coliseum. Hope to see everyone
there.

A's Spring training starts next week so the season is rapidly approaching.
Watch for more emails or
check out http://www.greenstampede.com for all of the updates (thanks Cyndi for
updating the site!)

The Next General Meeting is on Friday March 7 at 7 PM at St. Paschal's Church
Gym in Oakland
(near the zoo). The topics will include finalizing the tutoring program and
tailgate commttees. We will
also be advertising for our fundraiser for our St. Patrick's Day Party on
Saturday March 15.

Thanks to all who attended the Raiderfanradio.com show on Tuesday. The Green
Stampede had a big
impact and it is only a matter of time before we launch our own ".com radio
show." Frances Brooks
is the producer and Jerveece White and Cathy Bullard are putting the behind the
scenes process to
work. Raiderfanradio is having their next show on Tuesday February 11 at
Ricky's Sports Bar in San
Leandro. All are definitely invited. Executive Board will meet there at 8 PM
in order to plan the
agenda for the next meeting.

The Front line players look solid as well as the starting 4 pitchers. The
battle for the number 5 spot
will be enthusiastic. Also watch for the outfield to shape up. With T-Long
moving to Left Field and
Bay Area Product Chris Singleton in Center, watch for Byrnes, Piatt, and
newcomer Rontrez Jordan to
vie for that 4th and 5th outfielder spot. Let's Go A's!

Thank you,
