Is there a new poll for the delayed game against JFC? Just would like
to know how many of the good guys are on the game and if there is
space for me or not (talking about "the 17" which the chair wrote in
his speech).
For the passed weekend, I have to say I enjoyed the exercise a lot and
I guess we should try to get games against the NCTU team as often as
possible to get our game going. The practice (technical drills, etc.)
are important too, as well as the kicking on the smaller grounds but I
guess we have really troubles to find our game on the big pitch.
It should give us a better feeling for the game and the positions as
well as it gives other players the chance to get a game. It is also a
chance to get familiar with system and play it in or try out a new
system.

Commitment 06-07
I want to get an idea of how many guys are committed (training, TPL, Cups) to
the team, want to spare and who aren't interested in playing at all.
o I'm committed to training, TPL games and tournaments.
o I can't fully commit, but will train when I can and want to be a spare
player to get a game when I'm needed.
o I want to be left alone... please stop bothering me.

We want to figure out which night of the week would be the best to hold
training. This is in the even that we can secure some space to run a
practice... which may not be possible. (Playing 5 aside with the students is
not a practice.) I've asked the coach of NCTU if they would let us join their
training one night a week. I'll let you know how that goes, but first, which
night is the best fit? If you can't do it any night, let us know.
o Tuesday
o Wednesday
o I'm unavailable during the week

Hello All,
This weekends game against JFC is cancelled because the pitches are
unavailable.
So the league will start on October 29th against JFC. Kick-off 12:00.
There will be training this saturday to kick-start the season, time to
be confirmed.
So see you all then.

Just a mail to ask that we don't approve anyone who requests membership unless you know
exactly who they are. Better yet, leave that to me, Dave or Tim. Someone approved
"timhowa4@..." who immediately posted some spam on the site. There are enough
messages going around here without inviting that.
Also, if there is anyone registered with the group that wants to be removed, I think you can
do it yourself or send me a message and I'll take care of it for you.

Thanks for the epic mail, and the clarification therein.
As long as I know where I stand I'm happy to sign on for another
season, in whaterver capacity.
Position - anything wide or fitting for a short guy
Training time - I can free up any evening with enough notice.

Yo Yo Yo...Yea thank for the e-mail Kev. It was good to see all of that in writing. I can't wait for next Sunday, so you can count me in. As fas as training goes...I go to the Universtiy everyday of the week except for Wednesdays from 7:30 to 10:30 to play football. So if anyone wanted to come and knock the ball around with me--and Dylan--that would be all good. See you guys soon ey!? Lataz
Sounds like there is the will for reaching more than the 3rd place this
time. All points sound fair and good to me,
even it means that I have to be lucky at the moment to get at spot in the
top 16 but I will take it as a motivation.
The direction is good, let's hope we can keep it that way through the season
too.
I voted on the poll that I am available even knowing that I am usually not
close to the top players, got a bit shocked
that from 4 votes I was the only one at that moment. Hope some more come,
otherwise the whole long mail
has lost most of its content already before the first game.
For the game, well, it's JFC, that should be motivation enought. The 3:2 in
the league and than the autumn cup game.
I will try to be at the game even if I am not in the 16, at least I can
watch, cheer and take pictures.
I also just visited the tavern premier league webpage and there is still Lar
as contact in the team profile. Maybe you want to
change that. And we maybe also should take a photo with the new kit on and
with much as possible players like the big
teams do. ;-)
Regarding the training times:
Saturday is fine for me most of the time, no matter when. Trainings during
the week in the evening are tought when I have to
take care of my son, just possible if my better half is at home. I will try
to use the time here than to do some work on my
stamina and maybe some shooting training or something to be not to far off
and get in shape for a sub position, at least for
the cases when there are less than the 16 available.
Position:
I don't care, put me where you need me or where I can help (or maybe better
make the least harm...).
Take care all of you guys on your Shanghai adventure, good luck and let's
play a good season,
Cheers, Michael

Alright Celts,
It is finally here, the new season. We are going to play our first game on
SUNDAY,
OCTOBER 22nd at 12:00. To begin the season, the bastards who nailed our coffin
last
year...JFC. What more motivation could we have to get going?! Our
communications
officer will be in touch with travel plans and more during the week. Please
reply to this
message with your availability for the game.
Regarding this season, there are a few things to note. First, even with the
loss of some
very key players we have the strongest team in our history. We also have one of
the
biggest teams we've ever had and hopefully that will continue through the
season. Both of
these factors should produce our most successful season ever as well. It does
bring about
a few issues we've not had to deal with before... namely, making a decision
about who
plays and how much. At the end of last season a meeting was held to determine
the
direction for the team this year. The conclusion was: we are a competitive club
and our
goal is to improve upon that.
Here is a summary of the club's expectations and how we will be making the tough
decisions:
TRAINING
Will be held on Saturdays and one evening during the week. We will try to
figure out
the best possible time for everyone. So, please let us know which night you
would be
available to practice during the week. Also, let us know what time on Saturdays
works the
best for you.
We know that people work, have gf/wives, kids, lives nor did they come to Asia
to
play football so we don't expect everyone to dedicate three days a week to the
team.
Practicing at least once a week is an expectation that should be met in order to
make the
starting team.
Saturday practices a day before a TPL game will be skill and strategy based.
We will
try to save as much energy for the game. The weekday practices and Saturdays
when we
don't have a TPL game will be conditioning as well as drills.
The Hsinchu guys have a long way to go for the TPL games. We hope the Taipei
guys
will come to Saturday training in Hsinchu, when we don't play that Sunday. Of
course,
you're welcome to come every week.
PLAYERS
We are looking for football players on this team. Footballers have both skill
and
commitment. Everyone who puts in the effort will get their time on the field,
but we are
focused on building a competitive side. The team will be made up of starting
players and
substitutes.
Players who cannot keep up with the pace of the TPL or the seasonal cups will
not be
starting. (This is not to discourage anyone. Our team has a Most Improved
Player award
for a reason. Hard work will always be noticed and the team will be selected
week by
week.)
Players who don't show up for training, don't show up on time for games, don't
let
the team know if they can't make training or a game etc. will not be starting.
Substitutes will get a minimum of 20 minutes in an 80 minute game. (The league
used to have a rule that once you subbed off, you couldn't return. I was happy
to get 15
minutes as a sub).
We will be looking for 16 players for each TPL game (3 guys for every 2
positions). It
isn't fair for someone to travel to Taipei and not get a chance to play. It
also isn't fair to
take playing time away from those who have earned it.
In the event that there are more than 16 players available, the 16 guys who
most
deserve to play will. (This doesn't apply to the seasonal Cups as they're as
much about a
good time away as they are the football.)
For those of you who, for different reasons, can't commit to what we're asking
for,
but would still like to play once in a while, you're welcome to join us at
training anytime
you want. In the event that we have less than 16 players for a game, you'd be
helping us
out if you came along as a substitute.
Finally, the team will be broken into 4-5 name lists so that one person
doesn't have
to be responsible for keeping track of everyone. Each week before a game, the
players
who are in charge of the lists will be asking the top 16 for their availability
for the
upcoming game. If you don't reply to them, your spot will be offered to someone
else. If
someone can't make it, the 17th player on the list will be asked and so on.
I would like some volunteers to organize these groups leading up to our games.
These
Group Leaders will be in charge of calling/emailing/texting/kicking down the
doors of the
the players on their list to determine availability. Everyone on the list will
need to get back
to/in touch with their group leader on or before the WEDNESDAY leading up to a
Sunday
game. I'll take a group, Tim has volunteered so we need 2-3 more. I'd like one
of the
Taipei guys to man one as well. Reply to me if you'd be able to help out.
POSITIONS
Players will be asked to give the gaffer their preferred positions at the
beginning of
the year. We will do what we can to give you a game in that spot, but
ultimately you will
be asked to play where we need you the most.
Different games call for different approaches and everyone will be asked to
suck it up
once in a while and take one for the team!
The good news, for all you defenders who have dreamed of playing striker (and
visa
versa), you'll get your chance.
Sticking to that position while you're on the field will be important, so for
those of
you who like to wander try not to! If someone doesn't play the system then
they're not
adding to the team and someone else will be asked.
This sight will be used as our primary mean of communication so if you don't
have your
options set for frequent emails, you'd better change them. If you don't you're
going to
miss out... and make our ComOff very angry.
Finally, it all sounds pretty strict, but it really isn't. These are the same
expectations we
have had every year, they've just been written down.
I think that is enough for now. Good luck to everyone heading to Shanghai. See
you all
next week!! GO ON THE CELTS!

Celts,
Apologies for mis-using the Celts FC message board, but this is a post
to all Celts going to Shanghai next weekend. Really looking forward to
seeing you all again. Hope everyone looks after themselves this week
and on Friday and Saturday night in Shanghai. We have 3 strong teams,
and if we give it our best shot, we will be able for anyone. Then
stand back for the mother and father of all parties on Sunday night!
If anybody would like anything (within reason!) from Ireland, let me
know and I'll see what I can do.
