Congrats to all with the results of the tournament. It's always great to be in the cup race on Sunday!

Hi All,
Thanks to all those who came out for the Summer Cup in Taipei. And
though we didn't accomplish what we set out to, it was a good weekend
of footy, fun and sun.
It was really a testament to what the Celts are about to see our team
go and work hard every game. Every one did their bit and with a bit
more luck we would placed much higher than the 6th place showing.
Many Celts had superb tournaments. There are too many to mention all,
but . . . special mention to the Professor -- Goalie Dave who had no
fewer than 5 clean sheets (and a few more bumps and bruises). Kev
Beyer and Milo both scored great goals.
And very special mention to two members who marked their last seasonal
tournament in Celts FC colors this weekend . . .
Mick had a great day of soccer on Saturday before leaving for a prior
engagement on Sunday.
And Lar. . . Congratulations on winning the Player of the Tournament.
That is most definitely deserved.
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks to all of the players, new and old, who ran their asses off
this weekend. We had the largest team that I can remember in any
cup and we needed everyone one of us. The sun, the heat, the bone
crunching tackles all took their toll and we were down to just a few
subs by the end of it. But that is how we usually begin, so thanks
to all!
As for the result, it could have been better but the effort was
there and I think we should be satisfied if not pleased. There were
a few new faces, some returning faces and even the regulars haven't
played in almost 8 weeks. So all in all, not bad.
Just a note for those of you who left early; Manattack won the Cup
in a shoot out of Phoenix. JFC won the plate over Da'an. Shane's
man won keeper of the tourney. Our own Celts FC group member,
Bolly, won the Golden Boot in a stunning shootout with what's-his-
nuts from the Lions.
I've saved the best for last. Our very own captain, savior and all
around legend, Lar `Cranky Pants' Kenny, took home a most deserved
MVP of the Tournament award. He'll dismiss this as all modest super-
stars do, but every team in Taiwan knows what he brings every time
he steps on the field. So congratulations, Lar that was a long
time coming!

Celts,
An enjoyable weekend, a pity we couldn't kick on a bit further but
that's the way it goes. There is very little between winning and
losing and only one of the quarter-finals yesterday had a decisive
result with the other three going to penalties after 0-0 draws.
Don't forget fitness training at the university tomorrow night,
meeting at 7.30.
Lastly, we're down to play Da An in the league on Sunday at 12 at
DaJia. We'll have a game every Sunday this month. The Tavern web site
hasn't been changed yet, but I've put the updated schedule in the
Files section.
