Its been forever since I have posted on here after being a regular
forever, but I guess I was just massively distraught over the NHL
Lockout. I even skipped class that day in Febuary when the last ditch
efforts were being attempted to save the season.
Anywho, this past week I went into my closet and pulled out my Bs/
other NHL jerseys that were collecting massive amounts of dust. The
rest of America may not care, but I was celebrating like I just won the
lottery.
Still the NHL has a mess on its hands...here is my two cents:
The reason why we had this mess is that both owners and players took
way too much advantage of the old system. The owners had to buy teams
that would put fans in the seats and give them a chance to win.
Players gladly enjoyed the perks of the free spending. Something had
to happen and honestly, I think its a great overall deal for the league.
The CBA is great for owners, not terrible for the players (there still
making plenty of money considering how pathetic NHL Revenues are, and
it allows for some pretty nice competitive balance especially for the
Canadian Teams which are truly the heart of the league.
Now both sides can focus on fixing the on ice product. More goals need
to be scored, but most importantly, players must have an opportunity to
score goals. I would like to see some contraction, more divisional
play and the return of the old fight structure...but most importantly
low scoring trap hockey has to come to an end.
But anyway...Welcome back NHL, and my proud return to the Bruins Den,
and now I am off on vacation to Australia
