Here's my two cents worth- responding to
something someone in another AVP club said about this whole
fiasco being sad:<br><br><br>I know what you mean by
sad. I'm working my butt off, staying late, so that I
can get my Fridays off to go down to So Cal for the
tour.<br> I've had to resort to playing indoor leagues
because it's colder here in Silicon Valley and Santa Cruz
is really the closest beach. I'm so<br> bummed that
Santa Cruz didn't happen...I'd heard so many good
things about it from the players.<br><br> Metro: If you
want to find out more about grass tournaments and
beach things closer to San Diego, email me. I used to
live in San Diego<br> before moving up here and I
watched a lot of volleyball and played a lot in Mission
at the jetty. <br> You can probably catch some of
the pros down at Mission practicing- I've seen Dax,
Luyties, Pepe DeLaHoz and a lot of the up'n'<br> coming
qualifiers hang out there. So Mission is the place to
be.<br><br> There's always CalKing too which I'm sure Randy
will be holding in Mission Beach again this year.
He'll probably do really well this year<br> since a lot
of the players would want to play if this is the
only chance they'll be able to. Check out calking.com
for their schedule - I don't<br> know if they put it
up yet though- San Diego is usually at the end of
the summer. <br><br> I still have my fingers crossed
that something will pan out. I understand for the fans
it sucks but I really feel for the players. The fact
that<br> frustration is so rampant among them does not
bode well for the continuing existence of the sport.
Not only do they not know whether the<br> tour will
happen, they don't know what rules to play by or practice
by, who they should practice with, nor how much money
is going to be<br> offered. In the end a lot of them
I imagine will question whether it's worth it! I
know I would. <br><br> I figure we'll know more after
Monday. If not, I think we should start a "save the
sport" campaign among the fans. I know you all love
the<br> sport and want to save it so maybe if we don't
hear soon, we should start doing something about
it!<br><br> Gidget
