That's really interesting. It really allows the horse to get settled. Interestingly
I got a note from Kellie Snider (a former Grad Student of Dr Rosales now working
with the Dallas SPCA) about resource guarding.
 
She says that for shelter dogs who resource guard the first action they take is to free
feed the dog for 3 days so that he can eat freely and at will. Then, mostly they
do not have to take additional steps.
