My sister, Marcie, was diagnosed with Lupus when she was 16...she is
now 43...2 years younger than I....we were lucky in that the family
GP had just read an article on Lupus when she went to him with
swollen eyes, limbs, and fatigue.... she, at the time, was a varsity
cheerleader....he referred us to a blood specialist...now I think
they are called Hemotologitsts...anyway, she was on meds, and doing
OK until she was 26...then her kidneys failed...she was on dialysis
for 5 years...and then, miracle of miracles (probably due to my
southern baptist granmothers prayer circle around the world) her
kidneys kicked back in, and she did not need dialysis
anymore....about 19 months ago, her kidneys failed again,....neither
my other sisters nor I were compatible...different blood types (Mom
always did say I was the postman's daughter) any way, her husband
asked to be tested....and was a match for a kidney donor...this was
accomplished about 12 months ago...they were BOTH doing
great............
BUT@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tonight my sister was admitted to Methodist Transplant
Hospital.....she had a heart attack from the anti-rejection meds she
has to take for the rest of her life to be able to keep her
husband's kidney......
The med's have a side affect of potentially (positively in her case)
of causing heart attacks.....and she had one today....she is in ICU
at Methodist Transplant Hospital...I would like to ask, plead, that
you pray to whatever power you believe in, that my sister, Marcie,
last the night, and that my sister finally get a break
from "above"...she deserves and needs it..
She does not believe in my lifestyle, but chooses to love the
sinner, and not the sin...I can do no less for her...
