From what I remember from last year, even though the rulebook says polo and jodphurs, the kids did wear formals. This was at the Mid-Atlantic Region Tetrathon. Hope this helps.

According to the Tet rulebook dress for the riding phase can be a shirt with collar and sleeves and breeches or jodhpurs.
