Colesville Tennis Ladder members and Friends,
1) So far, 47 people have signed up for the CTL Fall Social to
be held between 8 am ~ noon (or 1pm or 2pm) this
coming Saturday October 9, 2004 (rain date October 10).
The social will be held at the six public (outdoor) courts at
Fairland Regional Park at 3928 Greencastle Road in
Burtonsville,MD - if nobody beats us to them.
If you have not signed up but would like to attend, I'm
suggesting that you sign up for noon, 11:00, or 10:00.
But feel free to sign up at 9:00 if you like to socialize and
don't mind waiting to play.
There are 6 courts. So 24 can play at one time.
To cut down on wait time, perhaps the people that signed
up for 9:00 might want to change their time to 11:00, noon
or 10:00. Please reply if you would like to change your time.
To sign up for the Social please send an email to
ctlad@... or sign up at
http://tennisladder.com and indicate your preferred time
of arrival, e.g., 11:00, noon, 10:00.
Food, drinks and balls will be supplied by the Club. For

2) Tim (301-942-3663) from Sportsworld in Glenmont /
Wheaton has donated two tennis bags to be used as prizes
at tournaments or socials. How should we use them?
Should we give them to the players that play with the most
different players at the Oct 9 social?
3) To sign up for CTL FREE Oct 16 - Nov 16 Tournaments please
send an email to ctlad@... or sign up
Currently End of Season Sep 15 - Oct 15 Tournaments are

4) Which format should we use at the Oct 9 social:
A) Play one regular set. All four players get back in line.
At 5-5 call it a tie.
B) Play no-ad. First to win 5 games plays the next round
but with different partners. Losers get back in line.
C) Play no-ad for twenty minutes. Don't switch sides on odd
games. Winners play the next round but with different
partners. Losers get back in line.
5) A USTA $50K professional women tennis tournament is being held
in Ashburn, Virginia from Oct.9 to 17. This is going to be the
largest professional women tennis tournament in Northern Virginia.
There are many talented young players coming who will, one day, be
future Serena and Capriati. See link.
Alex Prasertchoung is doing volunteer work for the tournament,
and anyone who's interested in going to watch, or to volunteer,
