Attached is the 'Welcome Guide" that explains our program.  We have a group of 10 or so players at your level, who come when they want.  Most parties will have 3-4, 4.5 players.  BUT (and this is explained more in the attachment), at an 80 person party, there are 5 ability groups.  The top rating range for men might be 4.5 to 3.9 and for women, 4.3 - 3.8.  SO, this is social doubles, not really competitive doubles.  I cannot guarantee you good tennis for every match because we stress playing with different people throughout the night.   In one particular match, you might be the best player on the court by far.  In general, we have a lot of fun, so you should try this out at least once to see if it's for you.  PS we also have one round of men's doubles during a typical night.

To come to a SCWDC tennis party, here are the instructions:

At the web siite www.scwdc.org, select "tennis" and then "indoor parties".  You will find a list of the dates and locations of the next parties, and prices for non-members with an advance reservation, and the volunteer leaders' addresses. Print this out and pick the party you want to go to.  Just below the list of parties (the big blue block which composes the list), put your cursor on "Tennis Party Reservation Form", click and download the reservation form.  Send your check to the leader of the party you want to go to, at least a week ahead of time, or preferably eariler.  Reservations are accepted are a first come, first serve basis when accompanied by check.  The leader will call you to confirm that you are in the party, leaving a message on your home answering machine, cell phone, or work voice mail, whichever you supply on the reservation form.

If you can't attend and notify the leader, we only charge a small cancellation fee, variable based on when you cancel, only $3 if you cancel 3 or less days before the party, $5 if you cancel the day of the party.   All of this info is on the Indoor Tennis web page.

Pretty much there is always space until just a few days before the party and even the day of the party, but we do cutoff new signups when we reach an ideal rotation base, 48, 56, 64, 72, or 80 players. Food planning is easier for the leader, the sooner you reserve.  There are plenty of openings in our January 2003 parties.

Directions to all party locations are on the SCWDC web site at the end of the indoor tennis party web page.

It's convenient to reply and initially help you now by email.  When you come to a party, the leaders and helpers at that party can answer any questions you may still have.  We are a fun group, try out at least one party.  For $20 or under, you get a minimum of 2 hours of social tennis, food and drink, in a modern tennis club environment...except Georgetown Prep, which is inside a tennis bubble (still food and drink, just a little rustic atmosphere).
