To All Members of the "Tennis 4 Fun" League:
First, if you received this email, PLEASE send a reply email to khaque@... (NOT to the group). In this email please include 1) your full name 2) email address 3) primary phone number 4) secondary phone number 5) preferred method of contact (email or phone) 6) a a brief description of your interest (or lack thereof) to continue to be a member of the league and 7) any suggestions/comments that you have about the league. This description might include the approximate number of matches you would like to play per week/month. The above information will allow us to update everyone's profile and see where the league and its members currently stand.
In the past week or so, the so-called "Planning Committee" has been brain-storming about the future of the league. The Committee seven members are: Kashif Haque, Jennefer Garcia, Eric Reid, Joceyln Villongco, Inbar Gazit, Mark Nitsche, and Murali Thirukkonda. Below are the changes and ideas that we have made regarding the league:
1. To facilitate members' active (or not so active) daily schedules, there will be TWO sites for formal tennis gatherings. Every Saturday at 8 am, we will have a gathering at Olney Manor Regional Park [16601 Georgia Ave. Olney, MD 20832]. Every Sunday at 1 pm, we will have a second gathering at Montgomery College-Rockville Campus [Campus Parkway Tennis Courts). Players can either schedule matches in advance, or show up and take their chance and see who needs a playing partner (for singles or doubles).
2. On certain Sundays at 1pm at Montgomery College-Rockville, we will attempt to have a "Social Tennis Event". This will consist of players placing their rackets into one pile, and having rackets choosen at random to decide the matches. This will be a fun and exciting way to pick matches, and play/meet other players in the league. On these "Social Tennis Event" days, there will also be an attempt for members to meet "Outside the Baseline" after the tennis is completed. This will most likely consist of people meeting at a local restuarant to talk about tennis (among other things). If there is enough interest, will try arrange this "Social Tennis Event" once or twice a month. THE FIRST "SOCIAL TENNIS EVENT" WILL BE HELD THIS SUNDAY (OCT 13) AT 1 PM AT MC-Rockville (weather permitting).
3. Now that the weather is getting cooler (at least for some), we are attempting to arrange Indoor Tennis Saturday Nights (from 8 pm to Midnight) at Cabin John Regional Park. The price is ~264 USD for 3 courts, and ~ 528 USD for 6 courts. We are hopeful that we can get between 10-14 players to reserve 3 courts, which will be between 20-26 USD per person. For more information contact Joceyln Villongco (majocelynv@...).
Thanks from all of us...
