Sounds great!  I’m up for something slower-paced, or even faster paced if the route’s pretty clear.  We’ll be in Truckee & will stop by the campsites on Saturday.

Woohoo – finally feels like summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  --Linda

Ta-Ho!! 4th of July Weekend Festivities

Yo yo, time for Tahoe.

Now that
Lake Sonoma is over and no one's dead from heat exposure, time
to find out who's planning to have a rockin' good time with
Team Wrong
Way
at Tahoe this coming weekend.

Frankie has reserved two campsites at Lake Donner/Donner Memorial State
Park-- Creek Campground-- for Saturday (July 1) through Thursday (July
6), sites #52 and 96:
http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=503
http://tinyurl.com/kw7sq
http://ra1.reserveamerica.com/usa/ca/donn/newdonn3.html

The agenda is pretty loose right now, but we'll be in prime adventure
and relaxing territory, as the park has over three miles of frontage on
Donner Lake and Donner Creek. The weekend will likely go something like
this:

Saturday: show up, go to the lake, drink beer, short bike ride/hike, BBQ
Sunday: 4+ hour bike ride, go to the lake, drink beer, eat
Monday: 3 hour hike, go to the lake, drink beer, eat, bonfire
Tuesday: 3+ hour bike ride, go to the lake, drink beer, watch fireworks

Ever the planner, I will be sure to have at least one to two good bike
routes mapped out (Toads? Hole in the Ground? Flume?) and one good hike
mapped out.

Isaias and I will be showing up Saturday through Tuesday, so Wednesday
and Thursday are up to Frankie. Frankie says people will be coming and
going, but it'd be awesome to get a gauge of who's planning on showing
up.

A couple last things:
1. Sure, we will have group dinners/cooking, but please bring your own
food. And of course, beer.
2. Bring hang out/camping supplies: frisbees, floating rafts, etc.
3. Bring a couple bucks, we'll need to give Frankie some dollars for
his reservation troubles.

Ok, now that that's done with, who's coming?! Speak now bizatches.

Barring my wife's stomach flu extending through next weekend, the
Schlachter family will be there (really!) Sunday afternoon through
Tuesday evening. We'll be bringing the Riley Bike, so probably a few
mellow rides around the lake trails in case anyone else with kids
wants to join in. I'd really like to do Hole in the Ground on Monday
or
Tuesday - I've only attempted it once before, when I made it to
Andecite Peak before the snow forced me to turn around.

We'll just split up the campground fees between everyone who stays.
The two sites were $315 for the 6 days ($25 per nite plus 15 in
reservation fees).

I'm bringing my raft and hopefully a new kayak that we'll try out on
the
Truckee River. Not to worry...you can rent them there too. Great
time relaxing floating down the river with a cooler and a water gun.

If you all are willing to drive a little past Tahoe City for a ride, I would be happy to lead a ride from Carnelian Bay to the Tahoe Rim Trail that goes for about 20 miles down to Tahoe City. Over 3 hours, I'd guess. Start and finish at our place in Carnelian Woods.

Otherwise, I'd like to hook-up with a ride with you guys if schedules work out. So keep me posted.

We'll be up there Sunday thru Wednesday.

Rich,

That sounds cool! Believe it or not, I've never ridden the Tahoe Rim
trail.

Sounds very cool - both Joel and Frank mentioned doing rides above
Tahoe City, and it's always sounded like a great riding area.
