The pro masters is age 35 and up. You're not that old are you? The pro race would be a bit much in my opinion. You shouldn't consider that until you're winning races in the advanced group consistently. Even then there's a very wide gap in speed and ability at a race like Saint Paul. There some races where you'd enter as a pro but not Saint Paul or Duluth.
Greg
hey guys, i have only skated in advanced races when doing a marathon, and i feel that i have gotten better, so i was wondering what category i should enter for the st paul marathon? the pro? or the pro master? whats the difference? or what category do you guys think i should enter?

Hi all,
Will anyone skate today at Sears? If so, at what time?
Thanks, Andrew
I don't want to be the only one who is speaking up for 8:30, margo and I will be at Sears at 8am unless there is a movement that wants 8:30..............Cale
I won't be able to ride tomorrow. I have to get home right after skating. I'll be starting at 8:00am.
Greg
I assume that practice tomorrow is scheduled at 8am (I feel your pain, Cale!). Anyway, Greg, Dan, Herb, and I had talked about riding after practice a few weeks ago so I thought I'd throw it out there for tomorrow. For anyone that is interested in riding I imagine that we would probably skate for about an hour and then head out for a 20-25 mile ride. It's a nice way to mix up the training. The pace is generally about 19-23 mph. Feel free to reply back to this email if you are interested in riding so we know who is in (if anyone!).

Most likely I can host again, unless family plans take precedence (still in
formation). So, those of you wanting to do the rave and stay in the city
Friday night can make tentative plans to stay with me if needed - will let
you know for sure as it gets closer.
Andrew, I'll even make pancakes and tea! :)

Subject: [teamrainbo] Lakefront skate - August 5
Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2006 08:47:18 -0700 (PDT)
Hi all -
Since I got such positive feedback from the last lakefront skate, I will
set up another one. Again, it will be the morning after a Road Rave - so be
prepared to have your skates on a lot that weekend!
August 4 is the Road Rave. Check www.thirstydog.net for details.
August 5 will be a lake & riverfront skate. We will start from the North
Avenue Beach Boathouse at 9:00 AM. It's Lollapalooza & Tall Ships Chicago
weekend, so there will be plenty to see and hear.
Helmets are required if you want to skate with me.
Standard legal disclaimers apply.

Nice job at Hermantown, sounds like you all had fun. Margo great to see you on the podium. Murphy with your new movie release, I would love to have your autograph. Congrats Tom, you beat me to the alter...LOL
Heres a link to a public service announcement that Bonnie Blair and a company called Qwest did. It shows skating at the Pettit Center, and hopefully some of you guys will come out this winter and give it a shot. It shows the speed of ice, and if you look closely, you may see some Rainbo team members.
Congratulations Tom! - I guess Cale has to place an order for those color coordinated skate covers to match our tuxes & the bridesmaids dresses. Greg will have to start the bridesmaids working on those left-hand crossovers & the ringbearer stopping drills right away!
I just wanted to encourage everyone to join us in Battle Creek on Labor Day Weekend for Pulse. Along with the 10K and 25K In-Line events we'll have running, biking, swimming, kayaking, walking, disc golf, skateboarding, aerobics, pilates and yoga. We've even just added a push-up and abdominal crunch contest. I'm sure Tony the Tiger will be around for pictures too so bring the whole family. www.battlecreekpulse.com

Hey Guys, I'm just before ordering some stock Vaypour boots and wanted
to get your take on the sizing if anyone else is wearing bonts now days.
It's been about six years since i've ordered any other bont boots and
to the best of my knowledge I am a 45Euro/10.5 US. However, according
to the Bont sizing chart on their website, it seems to be very
misleading. I have heard from others that it is way off and according
to the sizing in MM, it suggest I would be a size 9 US. I know they run
big but that sounds really small. Any thoughts out there?
BTW, once i order these boots since they will be somewhat custom colors
(as they will be the 05's) they will be unreturnable/nonrefundable.
Thanks!
Casey
Its so hot out there that we thought we'd take you on a rolling tour of Chicago's Best Italian Ice!

I am running behind schedule, so I am going to go to Old Elm at 5pm. I could never be out to Busse in time.............Herb will probably join me..........Margo is not skating........anyone else is welcome. We will be meeting at the Look Cook Rd end........Cale
I'm forwarding Tom's email to the public group so that everyone knows what's going on. Please use the general group for where we'll be practicing today. So far Guy has said he will be at Busse @ 5:00.
I'd like to go to Shoe Factory but will join the bulk of the group where ever that is going to be.
From: Sidor, Tom Sent: Tue 7/18/2006 12:10 PM To: Greg Major; skatefirst@...; RainboTeamMembers@yahoogr Subject: RE: [RainboTeamMembers] Todays Practice
We had some pretty severe weather go through here last night... there seems to be alot of debris everywhere.
Busse:
Busse could be messy on the northside due to the storm. There is also the freshly laid tar snakes. At the moment they start right over the Higgins Rd bridge andrun the whole norths side ending at Higgins and Rt 53. Its skateable, but a certain degree of caution should be exercised.
Shoe Factory
Its fairly open and drys very fast. There are only a couple short runs through any wooded section. They might be messy, but again they are very short run.
Sears
This is going back a couple of years now. But there was a fair degree of traffic from around 4 - 6:00 pm. There are alot of businesses there and everyone is leaving work... and in a big hurry. I imagine things might be a little busier now with more construction out there over the years.

I'd like to skate Shoe or Busse but not sure what the conditions will be like after the storms last night. I know Old Elm will be dry but that's my last choice. I'd even consider Sears but I'm not sure what afternoon traffic is like there on a week day.
Results are now online at http://www.hermantowninline.com/ It was a great time and a very well run race. I know it's a long way but it's a race everyone should consider next year. They seem very committed to making this a skaters race.
After the race Cale, Margo, Herb, and Dan went to Hayward with my arch nemesis, Fred Scheer, to skate the Hayward marathon course. We eagerly await their report.
Those of us that skated at Sears this weekend really enjoyed getting done early by starting at 8:00. I will be starting at 8:00am for the rest of the season. I hope you'll all join me. I would just declare 8:00 the start time but that's not my place.
Guy asked if anyone wanted to start early, 7:00 or 7:30. For me 8:00 would be the best I could do. So, I propose tomorrow at 8:00. If there's no objection that will be the start time.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. My computer had a virus and I couldn't get to email. Email is working today but I am not sure if it will again. I got my award from Badger!!

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has skated with me the last
couple of weeks. Some of you have really taken the time to teach me
some techniques and I can feel a difference in my skating every day.
I am very excited to try my first half marathon soon. It was nice to
find out that you are only racing against yourself and I hope to see
other newbies out here soon.
Karen
I wanted to thank everybody who was at Sears today. I really enjoyed
skating and learnt some new things. Unfortunatelly, I will not be able
to practice tomorrow morning, but I will try to attend as many
practice sessions as I can. Team Rainbo is the best!
Thank you,
Andrew
Danny Fredrick won the Hermantown race. I finished 7th or 8th. Cale was right behind me somewhere. I had to leave but I think Margo was first or 2nd in the women's race. I have to head to the airport so I'll see you all back at Sears tomorrow at 8:30.
Guy, if you have those spacers bring them in you remember.
Kris, Can I get those frames back from you? I want to skate on them to compare with what I'm skating on now.

Is anyone who is not racing tomorrow (Saturday) thinking about skating? Just wanted to know when and where...

Biking Fans, if you have never used Google Earth this is the time to try it.
Look at Wednesday's stage. Double click on stage 10, then flatten the image
so you are looking horizontal, then follow the course into the mountain.
Great stuff.

This is beyond cool - and apologies if this has already been posted and I
missed it: from July 1-23, cycling fans can visit every stage of the race
virtually using Google Earth's satellite imagery, enabling users to fly over
all 20 legs of the race, including the famous mountain competition. Not only
will users be able to view the course terrain in 3D, but with one click they
can get information about the race of the day and the various stages
(including the town hosting both the departure and arrival and the average
time for each rider). The Tour de France on Google Earth is available in
French, German, Spanish and English so that worldwide cycling enthusiasts
can follow this classic race and discover Europe.
The new service is available on the official website of Tour de France:
