According to the posted signs and an article in the paper, Busse is schedule to be closed (the entire path) on July 5th through Aug 3rd,
They are going to work on the entire path all at one time.
They will be repairing / filling cracks on the south side (similiar to what was done on the north side)
While they do that, work will begin on the north side to put down a seal coating..
This does not bode well for skaters. (and for bikers too some extent)
The seal coating will conceal tar snakes (which are dangerous, sticky and a hazard to skaters to begin with).
The seal coating can be very slippery, especially with just a little moisture on it.
I suggest that we start some sort of campaign to let the Cook County Forest Preserve district know what a hazard they will creating.
The CCFPD Superintendent is Steve Bylina.
This will no doubt be too late to save Busse, but may make them think twice for future projects.
