I feel heartbroken... :( I really thought they
could pull this one off because they seem to be so
pumped up after Game 4 and what they'd all been through
together. Oh, well...<br><br>I also think that Coach Eric
may have made some mistakes regarding his
combinations on the court. Don't get me wrong -- I really
admire Coach Eric, but I think he may have made some
risky decisions there. But then again, they were that
-- risks, and maybe things just didn't go our
(Purefoods) way. Besides, he knows his team and his players
better than I do, so I guess I'm in no position to
question those decisions. It's over and done with, too,
anyway. :)<br><br>The best they could do now is clinch
third place, and like you said, idolkosicap, it's
better than nothing at all. <br><br>ting
Like most of you, I'm depressed and I've been
crying. It's hard to accept but that's life we're again
down and we now have to wait for the right time for us
to be really up there again.<br>The team had a bad
start mainly because of coach eric's starting line up.
His game plan of starting big backfired on the team.
We never recovered from that bad start. Imagine
being down 2 to 12 from the start and it's all because
they're setting up EJ in their first plays! Eric simply
made some coaching boboos. Alvin is the only one who
played quite well. Noy wasn't given the ball that much
so he didn't heat up at once.<br>If only we started
right we could have made it but it's now all water
under the bridge. It's crying time, hope we'll all
recover soon.<br>Let's pray that they'll stil have the
heart to play well for the third place, it's better
than nothing at all.<br>Goodluck for their battle for
third place.
Im hoping for a win today!Go Purefoods!!!GO
Alvin.I think if they will make it to the finals, there

i think it was a dramatic win... i got really
worried when boyet got hurt by pennisi (and did you just
see how he strutted off the court? grrrr!). anyway, i
think that only motivated the team even more, and maybe
it was a blessing in disguise. it just really goes

Purefoods'longer stay possible -
Barrios<br>Manila Bulletin<br>August 4, 2001<br><br>The possibility
that Purefoods may be able to stay longer than the
one-year reprieve given by the PBA board was raised
yesterday by acting PBA commissioner Sonny
Barrios.<br><br>"As long as it is within the bounds of PBA rules and
regulations, such an extension is possible," Barrios said in
yesterday's SCOOP sportswriters forum at the Kamayan
West.<br><br>Purefoods' franchise, which is now owned by San Miguel, was
extended to 2002 by the PBA board during its last meeting
last Monday, a move that saw Alaska owner Fred
Uytengsu walk out of the meeting in
protest.<br><br>Uytengsu said giving San Miguel three teams in the PBA
violated the league's charter that allowed only two
members from one owner.<br><br>Uytengsu also raised the
issue of having to change rules on trading and other
regulations regarding sister teams because of the
accommodation allowed San Miguel to own three teams.<br><br>But
Barrios played it down.<br><br>There's nothing special
about the house rules the PBA Commissioner's Office is
proposing to implement for the next one and a half seasons
as an offshoot of the decision to extend Purefoods'
participation to 2002, he said.<br><br>"The house rules are not
that tedious as speculated. What we have decided is,
Purefoods will have no voting power and that the rule of no
direct trading of players among three teams is
absolute," said Barrios.<br><br>Barrios admits there are
some loopholes. Sister teams can still trade players
with the involvement of a non-sister PBA
squad.<br><br>Regarding Purefoods' franchise life, Barrios did not
discount the possibility that San Miguel Corporation,
which now owns the Purefoods, may appeal to extend the
team's participation beyond 2002 which he said might be
possible "as long as it is within the bounds of the PBA
rules and regulation."<br><br>"That's one matter which
could be discussed in the August 27 board meeting. Yes,
puwede pang i-amend ang house rules as long as it is
within the bounds of the PBA rules and regulations,"
Barrios bared.<br><br>After 2002, only Rey Evangelista
and Noy Castillo remains with live contract with
Purefoods. But should Purefoods decides to ink contracts
beyond 2002, the said company will be responsible for it
and not the PBA.<br><br>"Kung nag-sign sila ng
players beyond 2002, at yung bumili for example ng
franchise ng Purefoods doesn't want to assume the contract
of the player. Purefoods should be responsible for
that," explained Barrios.<br><br>"There are a lot of
speculations after San Miguel bought the Purefoods franchise,
especially after the recent decision to extend Purefood's
stay. But what matters is how we conduct our affairs,
and that everything is done professionally and
transparently," he added.<br><br>So Purefoods still has a chance
to stay even longer. Abangan ang susunod na
kabanata...<br>Goodluck to Purefoods esp. to The Captain in game no. 4.
Let's pray hard that we can win this one. It's do or
die for us. Hope we can win it to live another day.
The game was disappointing. :( Wood was really
working so hard. So did the rest of the team. I really
hope they can win the next one to stay alive. (crosses
fingers)<br><br>ting<br><br>p.s.<br>zinnia, hey, don't you get any of my text

We'll do our share on the court --
Patrimonio<br>By Nelson Beltran, The Philippine Star<br> PUREFOODS
main man Alvin Patrimonio thought Purefoods officials
have done their job on the Board level and it's now
the players' turn to do theirs on the hardcourt.<br>
"We're very happy with the Board's decision but our
crusade will not stop here. Purefoods officials worked
very hard in the Board. Now, we'll try to do our
share, trying to make a statement on the playing court,"
said Patrimonio in reaction to the PBA Board of
Governors' decision allowing Purefoods an extended stay in
the league.<br> "We're still hoping to be allowed to
play in the league beyond year 2002. The management
will still work on it and we hope we could be of help
by doing a good job on the court," he added.<br> The
Purefoods management, the coaching staff and the players
gave each other warm embraces in a meeting at the
Purefoods office in Pasig City after the team practice
Tuesday afternoon. Purefoods Corporation president Ricky
Gomez and PBA Governor Butch Alejo updated the team on
their status.<br> Suddenly, the Hotdogs have became
upbeat and they're raring to return to the playing court
to seek a Finals berth.<br> "Ang taas ng morale ng
team. Ang ganda ng inilaro dahil maganda ang samahan.
Iisa ang direksyon namin. I think we have a good shot
at making it," said Patrimonio.<br> The Captain is
so engrossed with the Purefoods crusade that he said
he's not thinking of next year and beyond even though
his playing contract is expiring this December 31 and
the franchise extension the Board gave to Purefoods
is only up to December 31 of next year.<br> "Hindi
magkakaroon ng problema sa akin tungkol sa kontrata. Ang
importante ay maayos ang problema ng Purefoods. My heart
belongs to Purefoods," said the four-time league
MVP.<br><br>Just want to share this article with all of you

Hi there! There's a poll right now at the PBA site asking which two teams will
make it to the finals. You might want to check it out and vote for our favorite
team. :)
The one-year extension, I think, is better than
getting the axe outright. Although I would've preferred
an indefinite stay, I guess we'll just take what we
can get, right? I just really hope they can win the
championship this conference and start a run and win the next
so they can get some momentum for next year and show
everyone they deserve to stay! :)<br><br>P.S.<br>Please
extend invites to other Purefoods fans. At least, this
club's life is extended for another year, at least.
what do u mean 1 yr. extension?they're going to
stay for another year?I mean the whole yr. next year?
hay naku!inis!!but anyway, it's better to be that way
than nothing!<br><br> Okay..let's just cheer and hope
for the best for them.GO Alvin!!!!You will make it to
the finals!fingers crossed!=)<br><br>-Zinnia
Purefoods is given a one year reprieve. It's not
what I expected but its better than having no
extension at all. I would have wanted a indefinite
extension but I think we lost by just one vote. At least
this site can stay longer too.<br>Anyway, goodluck to
Purefoods especially to the Captain ni Game no. 2 of the
semis. Welcome Reybelde!
i'm hoping to get some pics uploaded into the club, but i can't really promise
when that'll be. just keep posted... and guys, thanks for joining! ask other
purefoods fans to join, too!
Simply want to say thank you for finally putting
up this site. Hope to meet a lot of friend
here!<br>Keep on supporting Purefoods especially the
Captain.<br>It's dday for PF, hope we can stay longer in the PBA.
