Re: [Team Purefoods] OUTREACH 07

Wow! Successful ang Outreach ng SPC! I'm very happy even if I was not able to be
part of it. I was at the church kasi. Good luck and God bless sa future projects
of our club!

Most of the SPC members were already at the venue before the 2pm
start of the program. First to arrive was our PRO Rose with her
friends Kieth and Miles. Rose brought with her some giveaways and
things that will be needed in the games in which she was in charge
of. Leah, Teya, Jhackie, Blessie and Dexter came in next bringing
with them the giveaways and prizes, juice, bottled water, cake and
balloons. We prepared the venue at the function room. The event
tarpaulin was displayed in front. The front was decorated with
balloons. The cake was sliced, the juice and bottled water were
placed in the cooler. The names of the kids were asked and they were
given name tags. Then came the other members, Grazielle, Cris, Eva
and Denise. Anna and Cris came in bringing with them the ice cream
and ice. The others followed Gerald, Shirly, Yhan, Rachel, Elmira
and Marlene. The caterer assured us that the food will come between
2:30 and 3:00 pm. Everything was ready.

The patients, kids mostly with their parents and some staff of CHILD
started to enter the function room and before 2pm it was already
full. While waiting, danceable tunes were being played and some kids
were in front dancing. Some were playing with the balloons.
Even before the program started we can see the kids were already
enjoying and there was excitement and anticipation in their eyes.

The first Purefoods player to arrive was Jondan Salvador. He was
there minutes before 2pm. We welcomed him and thanked him for
coming. We asked him to sit in front.

At 2pm we started the program. It was very ably hosted by Rose and
Keith. Vice President Denise Trinidad made the opening remarks
talking about the purpose of the event. President Leah Camacho led
the opening prayer. Jondan Salvador was introduced and he was met
with cheers and applause. The first game, the statue dance was
played and 3 kids won it. Everyone who joined in all the contests was
given loot bags and the winners were given special prizes. Rey
Evangelista entered the room and his presence was acknowledged. One
kid came to him and said "Napanood kita sa tv…". He was also given
applause and cheers. The next game played was "paint a picture". Two
groups of kids were formed and they were led by Rey and Jondan. It
was a fun game with Rey and Jondan explaining whatever they formed.
Jondan's team won the game. Peter June Simon entered and he was
acknowledged and was also greeted with cheers and applause. They
were the three players that we were expecting to come and we were so
happy to see all three of them there. Within the program Rey was
greeted an advance happy birthday, a happy birthday song was sang by
everybody, there was a big smile on Rey's face.

The games continued wherein in some games, the players were asked to
participate. All three were game enough to do whatever. They
participated in the "pinoy henyo" game giving clues and also being
the one to guess the answer. All three danced with the kids and
parents, doing the "papaya dance", "itaktak mo" and even a little of
ballroom dancing. Jondan even sang "Pangako" with one of the
mothers. There were lots of games and prizes and it was obvious that
everybody was having fun.

It was already nearing 4pm and sadly the food hasn't arrived yet. We
decided to serve the dessert of cake and ice cream first. The kids
and their parents happily ate it. We gave the players but instead of
eating it they gave it to the people there. While eating, those who
were there took the chance to have photo ops with the three players
who were very accommodating. It was past 4pm already and the event
was scheduled until 4 pm only. We were thinking that the players may
have other schedules for the day so we decided that they distribute
the Purefoods giveaways provided by Rachel and then they can go
home. The food was still not there and they left without eating. We
said sorry but they said it was okay, they were just happy to see the
people there having fun and enjoying.

The players said there goodbyes and we said our thank you. Peter
June gave a box of Purefoods canned goods to CHILD before leaving.
The patients and their parents also left the room. After just a few
minutes, the food finally came so we asked the people to come back.
We distributed the styro of food containing spaghetti and fried
chicken to the kids. There was also buffet food of spaghetti,
pancit, puto and lumpiang shanghai. Although it came in late,
everyone happily ate. The SPC members also joined in eating, nice
seeing the members sharing in one plate. We belatedly noticed that
we still have a bag full of loot bags that haven't been distributed
yet so we asked those in charge to just distribute to those whose
names are on the list. The patients stay there so it will be easy to
distribute it. Everyone had a gift and so everyone was really happy.

Except for the delay in food everything turned out well and the
outreach can be considered a success. There were a lot of smiles and
happy faces that for more than three hours we almost forgot that they
were sick patients. Hopefully also for more than three hours, those
who were there forgot about the condition they were in and just
enjoyed. Our purpose was to reach out, provide a little help and
happiness to them and we attained that.

This outreach wouldn't have been a success without the help of
everyone. It would be hard to name all of you but you know who you
are. The CHILD foundation and the Solid Purefoods Club send our
unending thanks for all the help.
