I agree about the disorganization. We were stuck in traffic coming out
of Pop Century and were not moving for 20 minutes----couldn't make the
left hand turn. So, we turned around and tried to use the back roads--
Osceola Parkway which should not have been closed yet-----WAS. An
arrogant trooper told us that we could not get to MGM using this
road---DUH--yes we can. We told him about the HUGE tieup at the end of
the road and that there wasn't traffic control at all---he replied
"are you from NY--this is typical Friday night traffic in Orlando" We
travel to what he calls "orlando" 4-5 times a year and it was SATURDAY
and YES you can get to MGM this way and YES we are from NY, NY state.I
told him that the roads were not supposed to be closed yet---showed
him the final instructions----did he care---NOT---after all he was in
ORLANDO.
We went all the way around and if they hadn't pushed the start time
ahead----we would not have made it and I would have been one very
disappointed Disney fan along with a disappointed 13 yo.
IT was VERY HUMID---like you said- no characters- we expected
characters in Halloween costumes. My grandson finished well ahead of
me but waited for me to come in before he did anything else. My son
did get to ride some attractions while we were running and then we
managed to all ride the ToT and Rock N Roller Coaster. We looked for
food but all we could find was turkey legs. We left, a little
disappointed, and went to Mickey D's. It was a very expensive
experience and against our better judgement we will be doing
Expedition Everest which is way more expensive for a 5K----where is my
head!
But Scott....maybe it will be better this year....maybe the traffiic
situation has been resolved. All I can say is get there early!
Have fun.
