Yes but not long distances to help endurance...just speed.

Last meeting before the big ride! It's at the usual place: 13105 NW
Freeway, in the Siemens Building. Starts at 6:30p, and we'll have
some lasagna, salad, and bread. Bring your ideas & questions about
the ride. See you there!

Sounds like Tim had one the worst days you can have on a bike ride.
He was lifeflighted to Memorial Hermann hospital after being found
unconscious and the word is that it may take about three weeks to
totally recover! He does not have any broken bones or major swelling
and his last catscan did not indicate any bleeding on the brain. He
is at home now but it may still be a little while before he will be
able to recieve visitors. He will probably be checking in on this
page.
Wish you a speedy recovery Tim!!!!
We rode but it wass Sunday evening!!!
How was the Tour De Cypress ??

Just found the link to the MS 150 pledge sheet/waiver form:
http://www.ms150.org/ms150/ride/
then hit the "Pledge & Waiver Form" link under "Quick Links" on the
right side of the page.
See you tonight!
Mike
All right, guys - this is it! The first (and best) packet pick-up
is tonight at Hooters on the SW Freeway at Kirby. from 5 to 8pm.
Greg and I will be there at the Pedal Partners booth. Anyone who
wants to relieve us about 6:30 or 7 is welcome to come on by. But
remember - DON'T FORGET YOUR WAIVER/PLEDGE SHEET! It's in your
Rider Manual. You have to sign this and turn it in to get your
packet. See you there!
Mike
All right, folks - huddle up! Team meeting this Thursday, the 20th,
at 13105 Northwest Fwy (the Siemens building), in the first floor
conference room at 6:30pm.
It's important that you make this one, since it's the last one
before the MS 150. We'll go over rider safety and fundraising.
I've got posters, flyers, and cubicle flags for you to use in
raising the $$$. We'll also go over the Bike Rodeo (which is this
Saturday!). Snacks and soft drinks will be provided. See you there!
Mike
So, haven't heard from anyone except Ron and Chris Loudermilk, so
Ron, Dick Gunther, Michael Contreras and I are meeting at the
Northwest site at 7:30a, in the Reliant Energy parking lot just west
of Cypress-Rosehill and Huffmeister. Hope you can make it!
Mike
Ok folks, now that the cold is (knock on wood) gone, time to get
those miles in before the Big Day(s)[the MS]. We've got a Team
training ride scheduled for this Saturday morning at West Oaks. In
addition, the BP folks (title sponsors of the MS 150) are having a
training ride of their own on Sunday morning. So you've got your
choice - no excuses! Ride either morning, but get the miles done!
Only one month until the MS 150. It's crunch time!
Hey Everybody! We need volunteers and support for the Bike Rodeo.
The Bike Rodeo will be held at St. Maximillian Catholic Church in the
NW area on March 22, 2003 from 10-2. We will need some volunteers to
show up at least one hour before the event starts or you can work in
shifts. Please come out and support Team C.U.R.E.
E-mail Greg Ranft at toyman@... for more information or to
let him know that you will be able to help.
Thanks!
See you at the Bike Rodeo....
I didn't like the route too much--too many exposed road crossings and
stoplights. The had some burgers and things at the end--but since
they had a big run/walk and some short rides--they may have been
running down on food. Supplies were okay and organization wasn't bad.
I should be riding somewhere this week. How about you guys?

Ron--I forgot to read the messages before going--didn't see the
banner, unfortunately. I rode with Will for a while and saw Mike
riding in as we were leaving, so I know that we were represented. A
lot of wind in the last half, but an otherwise nice day. Hope
everyone else had a good ride and got their burgers.

Good job getting out there and fighting the wind!!!!!
I need to ride this Sunday!! Reply back if you might be riding!
I am getting ready to change my 21 speed into a 24 speed. Let me know
if any of you have done this before, I may need some guidance!
Hi,
I'll be at the Gator, too. I haven't decided if I'm going to do the 40 or the
65 mile (I haven't pre-registered). A lot depends on whether or not I get my
road bike back from the shop by then (I had the components upgraded--it's
ready, but I can't seem to get off from work long enough to pick it up). A lot
depends on how many adjustments I might have to make to it to get it "right"
when I do manage to get it.
If it isn't ready or I can't get to the shop, I might just ride my mountain
bike. I trained on it last weekend and I was able to ride "long" with no
problems. This is despite the fact that I hadn't ridden it in 6 months.
You were right though.....about the wind. I did a 65 mile ride last Saturday
and a 50 mile the next day--both "flat" along 242, 1488, 2920 and 2978. The
wind was awful. I think I only averaged about 10 mph upwind and but got about
22mph avg. downwind on my MTB (running slicks-my top speed was 34mph!). My
jacket was fluttering so loud in the upwind breeze, I found it distracting.
With some of the route crosswinded, I still only managed about 13-14mph for the
whole trip including one stop, about 2mph less than normal for me on that bike.
But good enough for the ride, I think.
I wish I had done some hill work. I haven't done hills since the Alamo
Challenge. The Hartmann is cool, but it is a nice climb for a flatlander.
Good luck. See you guys on Saturday (the weather will be fine)!
Ricky
Conroe
Well I did the West U Warm U this past Sunday and I
did the 50 mile ride and the head wind was bad...took
me 3 hours to do the first 30 miles but only 45
minutes to do the last 20 miles with no wind at all.
So I planned on attacking the bridge as much as I can
and cruise the down hill. Trying to do the best I can
with my urban bike before I get a road bike. So I will
enjoy the bridge.
Thanks.

Good we can use some more volunteers!
The next big 2 day tour is this fall (Bike to the Beach) you have
time for that one.
As far as the rides this weekend ...check back here or check with
Mike Moss ( info on the "Contact Page" off of our Webpage
http://www.teamcure.org
He will be able to let you know. There may still be some rain early
Sunday morning.

I would love to volunteer on that day. I would like to be an active
participant of this organization. Also I will not be able to do the
MS-150 this year because my best friend is getting married that
Saturday and I am the best man. So needless to say I have to wait
until next year or do the one from San Antonio to Corpus Christi but
I am not sure. Also I would like to make it to this weekends training
ride. Will it be on still even with the weather being so bad? Thanks
for the Welcome.
Welcome to the Team Oscar!
One of the items we talked about is the Bike Rodeo coming up March
22nd. We need volunteers on the day of the Rodeo. Please consider
it, the Time is from 10 AM to 2PM.
Also we are making plans for the MS150, are you going to be riding
this year?

Hello everyone,
I am so sorry that I missed the meeting yesterday.
I just joined the yahoo group for Team C.U.R.E. I was
not sure about what was discussed but if anyone can
give me insight on what was said I would appreciate
it. Again I am new with the group and new to the sport
of cycling. Thank you.
