I could use some advice please. New here to Houston.
I am a committee member for the Fort Bend Ride for Literacy. This
will be the 4th year and we are looking to expand interest to
the "fast" cycling crowd and or any and all participants. In the
past, this event has been a family only event – pretty slow going for
those used to going 18mph + on group rides. The event will be held
in Sienna Plantation. As a former Triathalete I can say the route
will be pretty good for those living in SW Houston and elsewhere.
Wide roads, all in a neighborhood with little traffic and a fairly
fast track. Much better than what is available to the majority of SW
Houston.
Will there be interest in the local cycling community for such an
event with a $25 entry fee to support charity? The idea here is to
have a "speed ride" followed by a "family" ride. 17 miles is the
planned track. Event to be held Nov 9th. By that date the
availability of new roads in the development will increase and it is
likely that the route length could double. It will be fast and free
of automobiles with the local police and road cones available to
control traffic.
Can you please put me in touch with someone who can help? Would Team
CURE be interested in participating?? It is a wonderful event. 1 in
5 people in Fort Bend County are illiterate and we are aiming to help
improve their situation. Call me any time on my mobile phone.
